I have switched to Equal in my coffee.  I am having trouble with bloating and burping.  Is it the Equal?

I would not think that would cause you bloating or burping, have you had a recent fill or have you had your band checked lately? Also bloating and burping are signs of gastritis/GERD, I would stop the Equal and see if it stops, if not I would have my band checked out.

Good luck.

I've never used Equal, but a few years ago I started having excess gas problems and asked a bariatric dietitian if that could be a sign of lactose intolerance. She said yes, but it could also be a reaction to the artificial sweeteners I was using. At the time, that was mostly Splenda. I switched to Truvia (a stevia product) and that did seem to help, but I still had symptoms. Eventually I started taking a probiotic called Lactose Defense and that helps a lot.

Yep what Jean said! Some but not all artificial sweeteners do indeed cause gas and bloating. I get a hard candy with them and I know I can eat exactly 4 safely, more than that and I'll be writhing in pain from gas. Just a hint gas x usually stops it if you do have problems with them.

Gas X has become my friend.  I have not had a fill in a year.  Going to see doctor next week.
