What are you eating today (Saturday) or yesterday?
Since I don't go to the fitness studio on weekends and don't have to be at wor****il 9:45 am, I had planned to sleep in this morning. And when did I wake up and find I couldn't go back to sleep? 5:00 am. Grrrrr.
Yesterday I had my first stuck episode since my sleeve surgery. Not surprisingly, it happened when I ate lunch (with chicken breast in it) too quickly during my 15 minute break. I had to go back out to the sales floor while still feeling that awful stuck chest pain, and when I got to my department, I started sliming. Fortunately the noon rush was over by then and I was able to keep a low profile until the episode passed. Note to self: eat pureed leftovers or soup at wor****il further notice.
Today's food plan:
B: protein latte
S: Asian pork patty
S: cinnamon oat breakfast cookie
L: leftover veggy meatloaf (mashed) & tomato sauce with polenta
S: trail mix
S: raw sugar snap peas
D: Santa Fe chicken soup
S: cinnamon oat breakfast cookie
I'm going to focus on getting more carbs into my meals and snacks (based on what the endocrinology PA recommended on Thursday). I thought it would be fairly easy but so far, not so easy, because of my necessarily small-sized meals and snacks. In the world of retail, this is a lousy time of year to take time off for medical appointments (unless the appointment is in a morgue), so if I'm still struggling by early January, I'll talk to a dietitian at my surgeon's office. Again.

Jean, sorry to hear about your stuck episode with your Sleeve, it's funny I get so many mixed messages about the Sleeve, this is why I could not go that route yet. I hear so many that revise from band to Sleeve mentioned that they can eat so much better with the Sleeve, no stuck feelings, no dumping, no reflux or regurgitation. But when you read the Sleeve board and revision board, you hear the opposite, you hear of people having dumping syndrome, can no longer tolerate fats or foods with sugar, and you also hear of horrible acid reflux, hunger and able to eat too much. And from what I hear those that have reflux or acid issues, they are 10x worse than the band, but yet people say they "love their Sleeve", and are told to stay on PPi's with their Sleeve, but if they experience any reflux with their bands, they hate it and want a revision, I really don't understand this.
I honestly don't get it. I was truly looking for a way to "justify" revising to the Sleeve and I could not, too many mixed message as if some people are not really being truthful about their journeys especially those *****vised from band to Sleeve. I honestly would be more to believe those who have never had a band than those who were revisions as if they were more bitter about their band experiences and really did not want to give an Honest opinion of their Sleeve journey.
I think it's a disservice to be dishonest about any journey whether it be band, sleeve, rny or ds. I try to be honest about my journey and let people know if I experience the good, bad or ugly and let them decide whether or not it's something that they would want to live with instead of hiding important side effects.
But anyway, I am happy that you are very honest about your journey and I hope that your Sleeve journey gets better and you learn to love your Sleeve just like you've loved your band.
Right now I have the new AP band and I think it will be a bit different from my older band, I just hope it works great with me and I can lose some regained weight. I am not worried about getting very skinny, just healthy and able to get back down to where I was previously.
My diet is pretty boring right now so there is so much soup and Unjury protein drinks I can take right now....this is the REALLY tough part of my journey and Thanksgiving is next week and we had planned on going out for dinner and we've already made reservations at this buffet, I had no idea I was getting a new band...I hope I will at least be able to eat a little mashed potatoes and gravy and mashed up food....this clear liquid diet this week is a KILLER.....especially when I CAN EAT with no problem
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
Thanks, Naomi.
I've been trying to give the benefit of the doubt to band-to-sleeve revision people and tell myself that the sleeve may indeed seem better to them because the side effects with the sleeve are easier on them than the side effects from their band. Based on my own experience, I still miss my band and I'm still struggling with my sleeve. And there's no going back for me - most of my stomach is gone forever.
I give you a lot of credit for being so open about your own experience despite getting trashed by others for it.
I hear you on the liquid diet - lousy timing, but I think it'll be worth it in the long run, don't you?

Jean,
I truly appreciate your honest feedback with your journey. You know those people who "trashed me" I really don't consider them really good people in real life or on these boards, and more of "trouble makers" and not really here for TRUE SUPPORT, and it appears they are not REALLY here to be honest about their journey, they are only here to trash the band and anyone who like their band, just because they had a horrible experience, --but guess what? My experience has not been a bed of roses all the time either, and it was NOT my band, it was my surgeon -- people should start blaming their surgeons instead of terrorizing newbies interested in the band.
I've always been upfront and honest about my journey whether it was good or bad -- I try to be educational and report issues that are honestly happening to me, that does not give me the GREEN LIGHT to become a band basher and try to destroy the band board and make it difficult for newbies to enjoy their journeys or have a support board when they had scale victories, frustrations, or accomplishments. I think this band board deserves support JUST LIKE THE SLEEVE BOARD GETS.
I think once the Sleeve Matures and get older like the Bypass and Band Board....that "Rosey Cheery board" will change also, when many people get years out....it's like a cycle....when things get old people get more dissatisfied...at least Amercians do...lol....My surgeon mentioned that the older 4cc band is still the most used band around the World and it still works great for many and many have had it for years....not sure why it did not work that well in the US.....Americans also seems to have more "band issues" than other countries with the band....could it just be a combination of "user error" and surgeons irresponsibility? Probably....
It actually sickens me when Sleevers come here being SNARKY when someone mentions...Oh...I can't eat food without getting stuck, or vomiting....this to me is the most silliest thing to say...such as Oh if you revise to another weight loss surgery you should be able to eat in peace without vomiting or getting food stuck...WHO ARE THEY FOOLING? I can't believe some people here are so naive to believe this...IN FACT..other surgeries have more vomiting than the band does....if someone is vomiting or getting things STUCK often something is wrong (lap banders are NOT SUPPOSE TO VOMIT PERIOD..IT IS A NO NO)..
We don't know what people are doing, they may be living with a band slip, too tight band or something else going on....just to say...OH the band causes this all the time without a clear reason why...is clearly a diservice to those lap banders who want to post here and share their journey and stay on track with their weight loss goals....EVERY SURGERY TYPE WILL HAVE SOME TYPE OF NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS SOON OR LATER...SOME WORSE THAN OTHERS AND SOME MORE LIFE THREATENING THAN OTHERS....and people should just STOP all this stupid band bashing....will there be more band slippages or problems? YES....I learned my lesson and picked what i think is a pretty good surgeon, it does not guarantee me a complication free journey, but my chances a greater now.
People SHOULD post here their problems or complications, or if they have horrible aftercare with their surgeon, I will support them as much as I can, but what I will NOT SUPPORT IS constant band bashing and how horrible it will be for everyone -- when in fact, my journey was still pretty good even living with a dilated pouch for over 7 years.......I chose the band the second time around, not necessarily because there are NO issues with it...I chose it because I can always get it removed if any type of problem arise..

Exercise is not a LUXURY!
Exercise is a NECESSITY
wow i did not know you could have a "stuck" episode with the sleeve as well. i'm curious as well. does it feel the same as when you're stuck with the band?
B: cereal, milk, v8
S: carrots, peanut butter, pickle, cheese stick
S: hummus and sliced green peppers
L: unsure. heading down to the in-laws. hopefully anything other than taco bell >_>
S: protein bar
D: dinner with in-laws. she said something about spiral ham, au gratin potatoes (my receipe i gave her), butternut squash and milk
S: probably won't be necessary but maybe a fat free choc pudding cup
exercise: taking it a bit easy, but will be helping with yard work
Yes, that stuck episode felt just like being stuck felt when I was banded, and I'm going to do everything within my power to avoid that experience in the future. No fun!
