What are you eating today (Friday) or yesterday?
Well, my endocrinologist expedition yesterday wasn't as fruitful as I had hoped. I saw a PA, a middle-aged guy named Dale. We got off to a bumpy start when he told me that he’s never heard of grehlin (say what?) and can’t address my hunger and dumping issues. We talked for about 10 minutes, getting nowhere, until finally I decided to shut up and listen for a while. On the way home I realized that neither of us are good at letting the other one speak. Dale has a very dynamic speaking style, and so do I.
Anyway, Dale says that all my blood work looks fine but my last A1C (5.9) worries him and he wants me to try Glucophage. He says it will even out the BG (blood glucose) spikes and dives I’ve been having. He started lecturing me about nutrition but gave that up after seeing my BG log, complete with the macronutrient values of everything I’d eaten, and praised my “attention to detail.” Yup, I’m all about detail. He did say that I’m not eating enough carbs, a statement that made me smile because carbs have such a bad rep in the WLS world as well as the world of diabetes. He wants to see me again in 3 months unless I have a problem in the meantime.
I probably could have gotten the same result from an endocrinology practice closer to home, but then I would have wondered if I could have done better at the bigger, fancier practice. Since the next 6 weeks will revolve around an insane work schedule, I'm just going to concentrate on basic survival until early January.
Today's food plan:
B: protein latte
S: cottage cheese pancakes
S: Greek yogurt w/ a few blueberries
L: leftover chicken & Brussles sprouts
S: trail mix
S: raw sugar snap peas

Today's exercise class is Cardio Blast. I'm hoping it will warm me up because it's freezing cold this morning.
Have a splendid day!
