Rebecca,

A well-adjusted band -- and a great partnership with my Bariatric surgeon DID work for me.

I lost 130 pounds and have been maintaining that loss for 2 years now.

I really hope that you can reach out to your 'team' and let them know that you have struggled, but are ready to get back into the game --- and see if you need a fill or an un-fill (if you have gained weight since your last fill, you may be too tight -- because we gain and lose inside just like we gain and lose on the outside.

You have a right to good and compassionate medical care -- and should demand it.

You have a responsibility to be your own advocate in getting what you need (and want).

It helped me to make a list of foods that I could and should eat (I had 3 or 4 'go-to' breakfasts, I had 3 or 4 'go-to lunches, dinners and snacks).  It helped me to have a list of things to do 'besides eat'-- when it is not meal time, I did something on that list until it was meal time.

I always say that it was like 'feeding time at the zoo' -- the monkeys don't eat until the zookeepper comes along, so if it is not time to eat, I don't eat.

It, can and does work for some people.  I think the most important thing to do is to find an 'accountability partner' - someone you trust to tell your frustrations, concerns, and accomplishments.

For me, it works to have an exercise/accountability partner and we write our weight on the white board at work.  It is a little thing but helps us stay committed and honest.

Hope you can find a buddy... I think all the advice above is great too.

PS - I hated exercise (and did not do any) for the first 3 years but now am running 1/2 marathons!

Yes we do.... it's pretty bleak but encouraging at the same time to 'put it all out there'.

As your signature says, exercise is now a necessity.  I think much more clearly at work, am more accomplished, and manage my moods/weight much better with exercise.  Just finished a 1/2 this past weekend and haven't signed up for any new ones.  I'll pick up one or two before the end of the year.

Take care,

Kootenay
