After hitting 415 pds, I figured it was time for a chance. So I gathered up my nerve and called Dr. Rohrer in Great Falls, Mt. He sat with me and explained everything I needed to know plus gave me a folder with all the different types of surgerys available. He spent plenty of time with me and made sure I understood the risks as well as the benefits. I decided to get the lap band surgery as it was a short operation with few side effects. I started the pre-surgery diet on Oct 6, 2012 at 415 pds and by Nov 5, the date of my surgery, I had lost 30 pds. It is now the 12th of November and I have lost an additional 12 pds since surgery, for a total of 42 pds in 36 days. I keep thinking I am going to hit a plateau, but I haven't except for the 3 days after surgery. I am maintaining about 120 grams of protein a day and 1000-1100 calories a day and have been since I started the pre-diet.
My question is, Is it normal to lose weight this fast? I do take the multi vitamins as well and remarkably, I don't feel hungry at all and have been able to easily stick with the program.

Congrats on your weight loss! Yes it's normal to lose that much weight quickly especially if you started out over 300 pounds. You may lose 100 pounds in 6 months as long as you keep doing what you are doing, you will only hit a plateau once you get to a certain point, the smaller you get the harder it will get, so enjoy it for now.
Also, I find those who stall for long periods of time, either need to UP their exercise and DOWN their carbs and calories. But right now you are on a roll so again...enjoy!
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
I am now down 89 pounds. I keep hitting these small plateau's but within a week the pounds start slowly down again. My scars are all healed and I have had only two bad experiences so far. Both happened when I bit off a piece of steak that was too big to pass by the lap band. That is a very unpleasant experience so remember to cut very small pieces. I haven't had any problems with other foods except steak. The great side effect of my weight loss is that I am again able to walk more than just a few feet without breathing hard. Plus, I no longer require my CPAP machine. My oxy levels have been great! I am looking forward to the next 90 pound loss. My goal is 225 and I am at 226.
