My Band Suzie is Gone...But...

He said I had a very large hernia, although it did not show up on my Upper GI. Also remember the pouch dilation I had over 6 yrs ago, he mention that my pouch was stil dilated after all these yrs, so he decided to remove the old band, tubing & port and replace it with a new standard small AP band that holds about 11ccs of saline. He also had to place the new band in a new location and resize the pouch smaller. He mentioned that my esophagus was a bit dilalated & he mentioned that was caused by pressure of hernia being pushed up into my esophagus every time the band was being tighten. So he was able to dissect tissue out and repair my hernia, remove the old band and place the new band in a better position. He mentioned that despite the large hernia & pouch dilation, he was able to place the new band properly and the band should work much better.
The surgery took about 2 hours, I anesthesia was so strong I was not able to walk around until 11pm last night, I am sore, but I was able to drink some crystal lite & jello & pop cycle.
I will update later when I feel better. I thank god for DrKu

Nana-
Glad to hear the update- I am pleased that your hernia was taken care of and that there were no significant issues. Glad you were able to get a new band as well. We were keeping you in our thoughts and prayers these past few days. Keep us informed. Rest, Rest, Rest...walk, walk, walk...

Thanks Susan, and special thanks to you, I would not have had this "second chance" if you'd not have been so helpful, and told me about Mr wonderful Dr Ku...he is an amazing man....very busy too, but very caring and patient....if I had listened only to my previous surgeon's office I would have been getting my band removed this morning.....this goes to show....everyone's lap band experience and aftercare will be as good as the surgeon who installs it...WHICH IS VERY SAD.....
