Travel and the Band...

I've been having a litany of band issues the last year or so and thought the death knell was ringing for my band...total unfill in June due to being too tight with only 3.5cc, continuing PBs, reflux, stuck episodes, even with an empty band.

We flew to Maui on the 15th and guess what? NO problems. I'm being cautious with food, but haven't had reflux, PBs, vomiting, or stuck episodes. My husband tells me I'm losing weight too.

How am I going to tell my kids that I HAVE to move to Maui for the sake of my band?

LOL Maui it is huh. I have heard different things about traveling with the band, that it has no effect and that the plane ride tightens the band. My experience has been that it has no effect. Not sure what happened with you but glad you are feeling better. Weight loss may continue to help with your issues. Take care!

ALL the above. I have heard travel doesn't causes but, it sure did with me. I couldn't eat for a day or so after flying. It also caused issues when I scuba dive. That is just me.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

It would be great to be able to just stay here and justify it via the band. Tuesday we'll be back in cold, rainy Seattle! Going to see Michael mcDonald & boz scaggs at the macc tomorrow with our besties!

I too spent a couple of weeks in Hawaii this summer and had an easy time to wasnt sure if the daily afternoon frozen ****tail may have helped . I too have 3.5 in my band and havent had other fills because im soo sensitive to the fills but in Hawaii i could eat anything and never felt even a little bit of discomfort!! I guess it is where my band likes to be Ive traveled other places in the last year since I have been banded and definitely felt tight. It is a band friendly vacation spot !!! Cant wait to go back hope you have a wonderful time!!!

Last time I was here ('09) I had terrible problems...this time it's a completely different experience!

Maui...sounds like fun! I think that will be the next vacation destination for me,...Could it be a elevation change? The band works very strange in higher and lower evlevations....I've had a "death call" with my band too over 6 years ago and I still have it...who knows I may survive this current "death call" too...lol.

Congrats on your weight loss and hopefully things will turn around for the best for you.

Elevation is almost exactly my home elevation. Humidity is 70-80%, maybe that's it. I made some soup and tried to eat it last night...no go. Reflux was back, but not bad. Going to schedule an endoscopy with my GI doc when I get home. I need some concrete answers.
