Do you ever ask, "How do I look?"

The musak where I work includes an idotic song (with speaking, not singing) in which a woman asks, "How do I look?", a man answers, "Very good. I must say, I'm amazed," and the woman answers, "I am a very stylish girl." She repeats that over and over again until I want to scream. It's probably my least favorite "tune" at work, but the "How do I look?" part made me think about whether I ever ask another person (husband, friend, store clerk, etc.), "How do I look?" What about you? Do you solicit and enjoy hearing feedback about your personal appearance? Has that changed during the course of your WLS journey?

Lap Band on 10/03/08

I don't ask, because I know I've gained some weight due to only a little fluid in my band. I'm going to the gastro guy today to talk about an endo due to reflux. I certanly hope it's only my hernia and I can fix it or whatever and get a fill soon.
The floruscope showed my band in perfect condition and they usually cannot see the hernia. By the way it was not caused by the band/. I've had it for at least 10 yrs and the dr didenot see it ewhen I was banded. Just wanted to add that little bit of info.
Oh and Jean, I hate those horrible songs at work also. I'm almost looking forward to Christmas carols.

Good question. I never ask anyone. Never have. Feel kind of uncomfortable when my husband makes a positive comment. Store clerk telling me I look good in something I try on is just baloney to me. Friends, sometimes tolerated. Ut oh, what's wrong with me??? deb

I know what you mean about store clerks.. Since re-entering the wonderful world of retail, I face a dilemma when a customer asks how she (or a garment) looks and I think it's terrible. I have to control my facial expression and think of a tactful way to talk her into a different color or garment or (tough one) size. The only ones I lie to are the senile elderly ladies who I know from past experience are going to buy that item no matter what I say, knowing that their daughter or sister or husband will show up a day or so later to return the item.

REALIZE Band on 06/05/09

I have spent the year knitting sweaters (12 sweaters in 2012 -- 1 more to go), so when I try on a new one, I ask my husband how it looks.

Other than that, I never ask that --- I still get lots of positive feedback (unsolicited) and welcome it, but I don't ask.

I've never been one to ask how I look, don't know why except that I don't much care what other people think about me. I find it more embarrassing than anything else and I don't really care to be noticed, I'm more of a background person.

All.the.time. I even text pictures to my BFF to get her opinion on makeup, clothing and shoes LOL

My husband usually just looks at me and says "Your perfect, let's GO" b/c I take forever getting ready and we are usually late already by the time I ask LOL

I think my husband is cut from the same piece of cloth as yours. A typical reply from him would be, "OK, get your coat and let's go"!

I've only asked once,. My 9yo son tells me I look beautiful and that's the best validation for me. LOL!! The kid never sugar coats anything, so his approval works for me. The girls at work are very encouraging as well. They know how much I've struggled with my weight over the years.
