Update: I will probably be losing my Lap Band
I did my research very diligently before my surgery and I continue to do research. I do not put much faith in small sample studies. They are too easy to manipulate. I have talked to various health care professionals, traditional and alternative, and they are all on the same page.
Sorry you are experiencing issues with your band, but please don't use this as an excuse to spread misinformation. You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own set of facts.

Wendy...again.. I don’t really understand why I am even responding to your nonsense, you just said yourself that you can experience dumping with no weight loss surgery, and it’s actually an illness call hypoglycemia…..
The lap band has repeatedly been advertised for years of no dumping…and it’s one of its main selling points of no dumping syndrome. Don’t argue with me, argue with the National Institute of Health and Health Care professionals they document real problems with weight loss surgery……
I can also say that the lap band causes me to have diarrhea daily until I am blue in the face…but I am positive….it will never get pass this board as a potential side effect with the National Institute of Health…because it’s not, …but constipation IS a well-known side effect of the lap band because it has been proven, because of how little food everyone consume after banding causes constipation..…..
If more than 40 percent of patients complain about side effects from a particular weight loss then it becomes an issue and then it becomes a known side effect, but until that changes…the lap band does not cause dumping syndrome.
Regarding mis-information...you need to voice your concerns with the NIH and Health Care Professionals who document this stuff and not me.
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
For me, it is an indirect result of having the lapband becuase if I did not have my band I would not have been eating healthy and therefore would not have become intolerant to sugar, wheat and other garbage. Obviously, if I had the lapband and continued to eat crap, I would not have this issue. The moral of the story is, if you have this issue, don't eat crap and just because you have a lapband don't think that you'll never have an episode like this.
I have never blamed this on my band, nor have I reported it to anyone. I've mentioned it to my care team and they explained why it can happen. Personally, I'm fine with the idea of knowing that my body will react poorly if I eat crap. On those occassions where I've been tempted to stray, it's an added incentive not to.
I'm very happy with my band and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I know some people have problems which is unfortunate. It's like everything else, nothing works 100% of the time for 100% of the people.
Good luck with the hernia surgery. I'm sure it's not something you're looking forward to. I hope they can work the band they way you would like.
Wendy
That said, most WLS pts don't dump, regardless of their surgery. 30% of RNY pts dump, representing the highest %. Don't base your decision on dumping, more than likely it won't be a problem for you.
Btw, I dump on too many refined carbs, always have. Pre band and post band.
