IF its not working for you dont be afraid to look into revision
Today I had my preop appointment and on Friday i will be having my band removed. It has been 3 years with the band and I never did get restricition. I also didnt have a very supportive surgeon and had no idea what I was doing and was very alone. I went home not knowing what size band I had or what I could and couldnt eat. That being said it took me a long time to get the courage to look for another surgeon and talk about a revision to RNY. I am so glad I did. The band does not work for everyone dont be scared to look into other options. My RNY is scheduled for december 12th and I am so excted to start this journey with a new surgeon and am feeling very optimistic!

Amber,
I am so sorry that you did not get better support.
I am relieved to read that you will be able revise with another surgeon.
I feel so lucky to have such a good partner in my surgeon. It has contributed a lot to my success.

I just had to have two years of documented that I tried with the band, and that I was still overweight (I was the same weiight as when I got the band) I didnt have do do any of the psy eval or nutirionist this time since its a revision.

Congrats on taking charge of your life! I agree if the band did not work for you and your surgeon was not doing their job, it's good you found a surgeon that would help you acheive your weight loss goals. Wishing you much success and an uneventul journey with your bypass.
