Thanks so much for that clear explanation.

Devi though I do not claim it because I believe I will be cured.  I've been stricken with flares of palindromic rheumitism which is exactly rheumatoid arthritis except I've shown no joint damage in my periodic xrays.  I have tested mildly positive in ANA blood tests.

I had the Band and now a Sleeved stomach.  I can and do take NSAIDS only when I really need to.  Always on a coated food stomach before and after taking as my surgeon suggest (drink plenty of water too).  NSAIDS are like wonder drugs but even pre-op we must be cautious and coat our stomachs and take only as needed.  Boy do I understand the need when our very own body attacks us - it actually believes it is helping us though .

Remember to use other natural therapies like heat, hot baths,  etc.  Glucosimine, Chondroitin, MSN, Fish Oils, Tumeric, etc.  There are lots of foods that act as anti-inflammitories too!  Low stress helps - yoga, pilates.  The best healing for stiffness is to keep moving (I know how it can hurt during a flare or even seem impossible but you've got to keep fighting).

If you can Devi, get your stomach sleeved instead of banded.

hey check your vitamin d levels, iron, and b-12.

All best,
Leila

Gosh, sorry to have gone on and on

i believe it's contraindicated for those with auto immune diseases.

pretty sure when i was going for my band, that it was listed on pre-op paperwork that you were not a candidate for the lapband w/AI - RA - etc.

i'd find out if you require a malabsoprtive surgery or not & then go find the WLS that best suits your needs.
