I have to work today, which is too bad because our weather is cool and sunny, but earning money is a a good thing when you've been out of work (without pay) 6 weeks out of 6 months.

Today's food plan:
B: protein latte
S: cottage cheese & cheddar melted on half an English muffin
S: choco monkey protein ball
L: Glucerna snack bar
S: trail mix
S: cashews
D: black-eyed peas (home grown) w/ barley, onions, carrots, celery & country ham (in the crock pot)
S: choco monkey protein ball

I managed to eat all of the cottage cheese deal, which is great progress for me. Hunger has returned 2 hours later, but it's just creeping up instead of whalloping me, so that's progress too. The Glucerna snack bar is an experiment. It's low in sugar but has 7g of sugar alcohols, so could be a dumping risk. For all the Yankees on this forum, country ham is a very salty, chewy, intense-flavored ham beloved by southerners and my husband. I'm not sure I'll be able to eat any but it'll give the rest of the food good flavor.

No exercise class today. I'll probably get plenty of running around done at work today.

What's on your agenda for today?

Jean

i make up a batch of it at a time and freeze it and thaw indvidual cups as i need/want it.

i make it with chicken thighs, garlic, onion, celery, green chilies, black beans, brown rice, and a bunch of spices and roughly about 12 cups of fat free/low sodium chicken broth. takes about 20-25 minutes to make. it's fairly simple and quite tasty.

That sounds yummy, and now that cooler weather is here, I'd enjoy some hot soup.

It's OK to post a whole recipe here, but if you found it in someone else's book, blog, or magazine, you need to give them a credit line. Such as:

Ricotta Cheesecake Fluff
Recipe from Bandwagon Cookery, by Jean McMillan

But if you're not comfortable doing that, just put it in a PM.

Thanks!
Jean
