5 years out!
Hi to old friends and new potential ones as well. :-)
I just wanted to check in and say hello, 5 years out. I might be back more often since I am trying to break a tenacious plateau.
So what have my 5 years been like? Pretty fantastic. I've never really had any issues (knock on wood for the future, of course.)
The basic stats:
347 at the start of my program
327 at surgery
297 (50 lbs!) a year after surgery (Sept 2008)
276 (lowest weight) two years after surgery (Fall 2009)
One of my reasons for WLS was to improve/eliminate my PCOS and have a baby, and in early 2010 I got pregnant. I had my daughter in November 2010 and reached a high weight during pregnancy of 325. I've now lost (slooowly) down to 309, which was a weight I was for a long time so I think that's why it has been hard to break past that.
In the meantime, I am going to be running my 2nd 5K in a couple weeks, and I just found out that my hospital (in Boston) now has a monthly support group down near where I live, so that's super exciting. This is definitely a journey for life and I'm still glad to be on it.
