Ugh, reflux at night

I got some good advice from a former Bandster who told me I wasn't taking my PPI properly.  They take 4 hours to work, taking them immediately before bed can cause reflux, and it should be taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour before eating and 2 hours after eating.  I took it yesterday at 430 pm and slept with extra pillows...no acid!  Slept until 830 this morning.  Hopefully this will help me get through this current episode of difficulty!

I hope this helps you. I've been having night time reflux . I had to sleep sitting up for fear of drowning in my sleep. I thought that maybe the food at night was causing the problem. Thought I needed to have the band removed. But I may have found out what the problem is.. CRYSTAL LIGHT.... Yesterday, I did not drink it and instantly no reflux.... I slept good last night without vomiting.  I am going to try it again today and see what happens...

The new regimine of omeprazole first thing in the am and late afternoon on an empty stomach has worked.  3 nights now without any acid or interrupted sleep!  I'm encouraged and hoping to continue to slowly lose...:)

I have been having bad reflux for about 3-4 nights in a row now. Any tips of how to make it stop? I am trying to make an apt with my doctor ASAP. But in the mean time, I am miserable. And I need sleep.

Changing the way I take my PPI has helped.  Se my post above re the correct way to take it. Prilosec is available OTC.

I just took Prilosec OTC for the first time this am. I just want to sleep tonight. Also going too be doing all liquids for a few days. And earliest apt I could get with my surgeon is November 1st. We will see.
Fingers crossed.
