Flying - the lapband

Any issues with flying, being in the air for many, many hours? Since the band tightens for random reason, any issues with flying?

In a ŵritten reply, Allergen once said the band should not tighten while flying as the air pressure should not affect the saliine. But many people find stress make the band feel tighter and  flying is stressful; all those deadlines!

my personal experince is that my band and I have flown ( from England) to Australia, India, New Zealand, Africa ( north and south), Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, North America and all over Europe and I have never had any problem.

But as I don't want to risk queueing in the aisle while the toilets are full, I tend to choose slider foods while in the air, just in case!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

As long as you are adequately hydrated and not stressed out, you should be fine.

Sounds like a good business trip.  I love flying first class, especially on international flights.

I didn't have any problems on my first flight (about 4 hrs one way).  I did find "Protein To Go" bottles which are under the TSA liquid requirement and have 28g of protein.  Easy to pack in the big case and take a couple in your carry on bag.  Enjoy!

It all depends on how tight my band is, generally I don't have any issues with flying, but I've had one or two incidents where my band got tighter, but I was also congested.

But MY band does get tighter in higher elevations, I can actually feel it getting tighter when I am swallowing when riding up mountains and this happens whether my band is very tight or not. I guess everyone ebb flow of saline is different, but many do experience a tighter band while flying and higher elevations.

I've never had band issues when flying, but I do think it's important to stay well-hydrated because the air in the cabin is so dry. Have a good trip! Why can't someone send ME to Jamaica on business?

Thanks everyone.  I am always hydrated and will be that AM.  Plus, I think flying first class will make it all easier, lol!
