No but I am going to ask around!!!   Hooray for them!  Guess they read all of the problems etc!  I don't go back till 11/30  so we shall see!     I hate my band but really love my dr.  He is fair, nice and good to me.

I'm actually happy to hear this, for all of our sakes. With the statistics being what they are, I'm surprised that the band is still offered as a feasible solution for obesity.

If gastric banding weren't such a lucrative business, due mostly to people choosing it without having researched enough, it would have been phased out already, I'm sure. But, where there's Big Bucks, there's opposition, no matter what the cost to humans.

If Kaiser Northern California is choosing to discontinue doing the lapband, it's a step in the right direction. And they have my respect for choosing the health of their fellow humans over raking in cash.

When i went to my orientation back in february they mentioned that there were too many complications and slippage. They still offered it but they greatly discouraged people from getting it i never wanted it because I was worried about the constant fills. I was worried that if I lost my ins would i still be able to get a fill.

I went to Kaiser Richmond Bariatrics today, hoping for revision from lapband to sleeve. Dr said they won't do bands any more.

That is great to hear!  If there wasn't so much money in fills, I believe most would follow.  Sad to think they would still do the band knowing it isn't a good choice because hey, you can charge to do the surgery, get hauling in the payments from fills and than charge to remove it.  Than charge again for a revision.  A band is the WLS that keeps on giving...to the Surgeon.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
