Has the Lap Band Really Worked for Anyone?

If you're losing without a fill (1-2 lb per week) you are in the green zone.  Adding fill while you are in the green zone could put you into the yellow/red zone putting you at risk for getting stuck, PBs, vomiting and slips. My doc's protocol is to not fill if you are losing 1.5-2 lb per week, offer a small fill if you are, losing 1 lb per week and recommends a fill if you are under 1 lb per week.

Even following this protocol and having only 3.5 cc in an 11 cc band, I developed scar tissue under my band causing frequent stuck episodes on liquids, nighttime pain, reflux and failure to lose due to maladaptive eating.  With no fill I am in the yellow zone...too tight to eat what I should...at this moment I am having trouble eating very loose oatmeal.  Be careful, it's not about fills...take it slow and see what develops.

Best of luck to you and congrats on your progress to date!

I lost weight and KEPT IT OFF, but I traded weight loss for a lifetime of lap band complications.
