Thanks for the heads up! There is never a "happy ending" as long as I have my band there will always be a fight to keep complication free..lol.  I am curious to see what is going on with my endoscopy, I have not had one since been banded, but I've had a few before I got my band when I had GERD. This is the first time that I've had severe burning without being too tight.

What was wrong with your band if you did not have slippage/erosion? And what damage did it cause? And why did you get it removed?

Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight downsmiley

The whole story is here;  http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/failed_lap_bands/discussion /4548777/My-Band-story/

The bottom line, when the band came out the whole port and surrounding
area was encapsulated in scare tissue. That is what was pulling/hurting
every time I did anything.  The stomach tissue was inflamed where the
band was and scare tissue around the band. I wasn't crazy when I told
the surgeon I felt like I had and alien in there trying to get out.  That is
just what was going on.  My body was trying to expel the thing and wall
it off.
The last 2.5 years getting a fill/unfill just kept hurting worse and worse
until they couldn’t do a fill/unfill without taking pain pills. The port was
tipped in the ball of scare tissue attched to muscel and innards.  When
they tipped it back to fill it they pulled everything with it.

Wishing you a trouble free band!

I am sorry you had to go through all that! It sounded horrible, it's good that you got your band out and you are not healing. I am wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you can get another surgery that will work for you.

Nana is your band a 4 cc or a 10ml?

It's both, it's the older 4cc/10cm band. It can hold up to 4cc of saline and the 10cm is the width. I got my band when Inamed was the manufacturer and they decided to offer various sizes in 2007 and introduced the AP band because many people used to get the band and it was either too small or too large. Those who got the band and it was too small could not hold any fills because it was too tight even unfilled. And those that the band was too big would max out with saline and never get restriction.

That makes since.  You have 4cc 10ml in your sigy and than I saw you write 4cc/10ml.  A cc/ml is the same thing NOW a 10cm is a whole 'nother story and makes since.  It's the old 4cc (volume) and 10cm (width measurement.)  That solves that mystery.  One of my fellow banders at the support meeting had that model.

Thank you for your post.  It made me feel at ease as I hope to be banded on 10/24 along with my husband on the same day.  I love reading the forums and blogs but they really scare me sometimes.  When I read the downs it makes me want to just run away and stay fat!!!  I know it will work and I can make it work for me, I understand it takes time and effort on my part.  It seems that those I read seem to have been banded a few years ago... I wonder if the product or the surgey had improved and not so may are having issues and/or is it just that around a certain time frame it stops working?
I will continue to read and know that it does not work for everyone.  I am sorry you have had all this trouble but I am glad you know what the cause is and they can get you better.
