Port inury?
I know the correct answer is to call my surgeon. I did and I'll be seeing him on Thursday. In the meantime, however, I'm worried that I may have done something to my port.
On Sunday I was going in a door with a weird handle. I don't know how I managed to do it, but I managed to smack into the door as it was swinging open. The door handle hit me in the stomach right at my port. It felt like the end of the handle hit the side of the port and pushed it. It hurt like crazy. Since that it's been very painful. Could bashing into the port with the door handle cause it to tear away from the muscles it's attached to?
Thanks,
Wendy

Wendy you would know if your port was loose - you would be able to move it manually. You are probably just sore. Port placement is usually pretty durable. It seems like some of us get lucky with popped stiches (this allows for the port to turn and sometimes flip). Most people, their ports are the least of their worries. Besides you have to be positive about having a port. I used to think of it as my life line as it was saving my life.
No worries! Call your doc if you really suspect something is "off" otherwise chill.

I think it's just sore from the door handle. But I am not a doctor in real life nor do I play one on television. I just think you'd have to have the door handle hit you with such impact that you'd probably have broken ribs and other assorted injuries to cause it to dislodge the port.
Seriously, I hope you feel better soon.
