Lapband in 2005- need help
I had lapband in 2005- I did great. Almost got down to my goal weight. within 15 lbs. Well 2008 I got divorced after 17 yrs and laid off from work. Slowly started gaining weight but it seemed managable. In 2010 got remarried. I started gaining weight badly. Always going back and forth to the dr and everything was fine with band, It was just me. 2011 I got pregnant. In 4-3-12 I had a beautiful baby boy and ended up moving to Iowa. So now I need help. I am back up to my start weight and need to find a place to get fills in Southern Iowa. I am about 70 miles from Des moines. I had a small fill before I moved and its not helping. How do I get back on track? How do I start losing weight again? I feel so miserable again and not sure how to even start. Any help, suggestions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
First-I would find another bariatric doc, it may take some phoming around. If you tell them you have moved it'll probably be easier than if you just say you need someone new to fill you. Even then some docs just flat won't take new patients so don't be discouraged of they don't just keep trying.
Second or maybe really first-forgive yourself for gaining it won't help to beat yourself up. Get started back with band living (look to the right of this page and you'll see All About Lapband System) start trying to get some exercise even if it's just walking daily.
Three-keep coming here for support!

Well, the best thing you could do is what you have just done: realize you're in trouble and that you need help. Post on the Iowa board and ask if anyone can recommend a doc or fill center near you. Talk to your old doc and see if he/she knows anyone who knows anyone in your area. Talk to your insurance company and see if they can recommend someone.
Go back to the basics of eating - those basic band rules you dilligently followed in '05: protein first, no drinking within 30 min of eating, etc.
Most importantly - find a way to get your focus back. What did you do at the beginning that you're not doing now? You've got that baby to take care of and being thinner means being healthier and being around longer to see your boy become a man.
Find things to do that will keep you away from food. If you're with the little one all the time, put him in the stroller and go for long, long walks. When it gets colder, mall walk. Learn to knit. Read more. Come on here and ***** and moan: that's what we're here for.
