Encouragement--4 years out
I am four years out and holding with my weight loss. I recently had a tweak fill and I am losing again. The thing is, without this band I would have gained all my weight back just like every other diet I was ever on.
I had a fabulous surgeon and AFTERCARE. My surgeon's price included two years of aftercare and fills. This means I got to go in just about any time I wanted to (schedule permitting) for help. This is extremely important to my success.
If you are contemplating the band be sure you pay attention to AFTERCARE!
Anyway, I believe the surgeons where I had mine done are very committed to quality care and do an outstanding job. I have had experience with this group on a health issue my spouse had and they are awesome. I say all this to say they told me I can expect my band to be in for LIFE. One doc told me that, yes, there is a 10-15% failure rate. As with most surigical procedures things can and do go wrong. BUT, barring that 10 to 15% I can expect this band for life.
I completely trust my surgeons and have no reason not to. I am not commenting on any other person's experience because I know there are problems out there. I am just saying it is reassuring to me that my medical professionals whom I have a trusting relationship with and who have treated me with great care say this is for the long haul!
