Ok, so I have not been on here in a long time, and for that I apologize! Life happens!
I have had my lap band for 2 1/2 years now. Up until 2 months ago I have had no problems. Weight loss was slow, but I was ok with that because I didn't really "diet". I just ate what my band would let me. I stayed around the same weight for probably 6 months. Then 2 months ago I started losing again. Now I cannot stop losing. My band seems to have tightened. I have not had any fluid added in over a year. I have lost 20 lbs in 2 months and I am below my goal weight. Sound great, right?? But, I have a hard time eating anything!! I have no pain or reflux but I do have to vomit sometimes after I eat. My family is worried that I'm losing too much ( although I am still considered slightly overweight according to my BMI). I have made an appointment with my doctor for sept. 19. I am just soooo worried that she will take some fluid out and I will start gaining again!!! I have lost 91 pounds and I Do Not want them back again
Thanks for reading!!!

Definitely talk to your doctor but don't be worried about having fluid out.  Remember, you can have a little taken out and if it's a problem, you can have some put back in.  I've had my band for 7 years.  I got fills every month for 12-18 months (just a little bit at a time****il I hit my sweet spot.  My weight loss was always slow and steady. My weight has been stable (up 5 pounds, down 5 pounds) for a couple of years now and about every 18 months I have to go in and have a small amount of fluid removed.  Kinda the opposite of what you'd think.  I have an appt in September and I'm not sure if we're going to remove fluid or not but if we do it would be my third unfill, spaced about 18 months between each one.  I actually feel better after the unfill (it's like .2 cc) and don't have any issues with hunger or regain.

Good Luck!

Kim

Getting fluid out does not cause weight gain. It allows you to eat really dense protein, etc. that will help keep it off. If you let it go like this you risk complications as well as weight gain from eating sliders that WILL go down.

In my surgeons office an unfill, no matter how slight, is considered an emergency and is put to the top of the list. Call right now and get yourself in. You won't regret it, really. Besides, after the swelling goes down you can always put more in.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Over time scar tissue builds up under the band causing it to tighten. It happened to me to the point where I eventuall had to get it emptied all together. That was my choice, it just caused too much hassle. You need to get some fill taken out so you can eat healthy again. If you have to vomit even occasionally you are too tight, not from a fill but from a build up of scar tissue. Do it soon before you cause damage from being too tight.

Don't be afraid of an unfill and don't wait. You should not be throwing up when you try to eat. I put up with being too tight needlessly. I would finally go in and had restriction even after the unfill. Ask to talk to a nurse, describe what's going on and get in asap for an unfill. Feel better soon.

Thanks everyone for your comments/advice! I did talk to the nurse this morning and I was able to get a sooner appt. - in 5 days.... Basically she told me to stick to liquids until then . I will be careful!

I will say that I love my band, and am very pleased with my weight loss!! Having this surgery changed my life and enabled me to become a "hot" grandma!!
