Thanks Justme! I hope I am one who doesn't have reflux!

Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months!  My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12!  I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve!  Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!

Of course I know nothing about the Sleeve I don't have one, but over the years I've known many that have a Sleeve and many that revised over to the Sleeve before you got yours and all that revised mentioned that they had to be on PPIs because of the heartburn and reflux issues, this is not bashing the Sleeve at all I have a few close friends that have the Sleeve and they are very honest about it. I had GERD before I had my lap band, but I don't have it since I've had my band -- unless I get overfilled and that can be quickly fixed with an unfill.

I think when people are seeking revisions they want the honest truth about a procedure and possible side effects of what can happen, since there is no turning back.

Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*,  lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!

Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight downsmiley

Thanks Nana, I have researched the Sleeve and know around 1 year some, not all have acid reflux. But I also read an extensive study last night that compared the Band to the Sleeve that said at 3 years out Acid Reflux is greater with the Band. I have had all the tests done and am ready for a revision. I loved how the bad got me this far and was doing fine until recently. I do not have a slip. I have extensive scar tissue. This is common for those who lose large amounts of weight.

LilSleeved first congrats on your weight loss, it's good that you are going into this revision with all the knowledge you can get, I was just letting you know what many have told me over the years when they revised over to the Sleeve about reflux issues. I think I read something about that too about lap banders having more reflux issues long term, but I honestly think that has to do with MANY long term lap banders also suffer from band slippage which causes reflux issues. For me, as long as my band is functioning properly and I follow rules and keep it adjusted properly I have no issues with reflux and I am very grateful for that.,

If you are suffering and feel the Sleeve is the best option for you, do what is best for you. I've also heard that some people who start out as SMO and lose significant amount of weight may be more prone to scar tissue issues. It is strange that we all have different experiences with our lap bands, I wish you much continued success and hope the Sleeve bring you relief and continued success and weight loss.

I had the band and had constant acid reflux.  I was on double PPI's and would have to take them the whole time I had the band.  I never had reflux before the band.  I didn't have a slip and was told it is normal with the band.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

First of all, ((((((HUGS)))))) I am so sorry you are going through this. I am sure you truly are sick and tired of being sick and tired. My advice to you is this.

You need to start on a PPI right now, this minute, and get a total unfill asap. Then let things heal. During that time you can investigate what you might want to do if this thing doesn't correct itself. In the meantime take care of yourself and get things started. Revision is always an option but don't jump into major surgery until you know if you will heal. Get the ball rolling toward a revision if needed but remember it is another huge trauma to your body and don't even go there if there are interim measures to take first.

First of all I want to thank everyone for their comments and concerns.

I am currently taking OTC medication for the acid reflux, but it's not working at all! I take one in the morning and one at night. I still have no relieve at all with my current meds or others. So, I'm really not sure why I'm still taking stuff that doesn't work! ha! (just realized that) I go today to see Dr. David Kim in Colleyville. This will be my first visit with him. I'm excited but yet nervous about what they may find.

Last night was horrible for me. I had not been asleep but an hour and I'm up...couldn't sleep at all without trying to throw up or coughing. So I got up and went into the living room. Got into the recliner and I got some relieve but not complete. That's what I don't understand! What's going on that would make me still have this reflux when I'm almost sitting up and taking meds for it?

I'm hoping for answers soon. I have researched the revision and IF I have to I will have it done. I can't continue to exist this way at all. My employees are suffering because of my lack of sleep! ha! My husband is suffering as well! I will let everyone know what the doctor says tomorrow!  I pray it's all going to be good and simple to fix! Probably wil have what little fill I have taken out as well!

Thanks everyone!!
