My point in posting these is not to scare but to make aware...these bandsters are only the tip of the iceburg...there are over 530 members of the group www.obesityhelp.com/group/failed_lap_bands/discussion/ I never in a million years thought I would be part of this population....but I am. Do your research whi*****ludes reading the bad along with the good.

Yes you are correct. Knowledge is power. Bandsters, or those researching the band need to have acces to ACCURATE, COMEPLETE INFORMATION.
In addition to those listed by Steph, the revision forum is an excellent resource as well. Fine out what WLS most are revising FROM, and just how common it really is:

It is just the beginning... as time goes on, we'll see the full spectrum of damage caused by gastric banding, I'm sure. I've already done my own "study" having gone through it! Nearly TEN years I have watched band after band fail... myself, members of my support group... it makes me sad.

And my ceter is still selling them as non invasive. They also say the vegus nerve damage/symptons is a none issue. They say the study had to few people. They write us with these issues off!

this forum is a laugh riot - really it is.
i especially love the posts of "why" people no longer post here - and they are the first to arrive to say it's all the negativity.
like clock work - the same old same old post WHY they no longer post. it's their outlet i've learned.
you either do or don't - we (collective we) get it why, your outnumbered by the complication rate.
and i DON'T buy the argument of shall i say - that people are afraid to post their problems because the blame game. BS, there is a poster on the MB & one much beloved here that were the worst of the worst in blaming the patient. i know - because they did it to ME!
*mental note to write a book*
frankly - you want a band , get one .... your dollar, your body.
unlike some, i don't feel compelled to warn others that their liver may be compromised for life - or that lasting pain even after removal is with you ... for life.
i do applaud those that do, even with the backlash that accompanies their STORY - - not a made up one.
this is the ONLY forum that blames the patient.
and that's fine for those that feel it's better to blame, than to worry about what's going on inside them.
this is the ONLY forum that has 3-4 posts daily about a serious complication.
it should be noted, i am not a bitter ex-lapbander who didn't make it work, i was at goal... i HAD to have the band removed, i was revised to the sleeve - - and for those who HATE (and i know those posters - since '06) people ******g on the band, don't comment on the sleeve if YOU don't have one. FAIR?

After reading your whole post I think your "preaching to the choir". This thread was posted by somebody pointing out just what you are saying.
I'm here because I'm looking for help from others like you. I did everything I was suppose to. The Nurse always called me her "perfect lap-bander". Still I am getting my band out because of the medical problems I have had for 2.5 years. I spent the last 1.5 years trying to hang on despite my PCP saying it was hurting me and needs to come out. It will be coming out 9/4.
Then I will be fighting to get the sleeve. Would love input from you.
This thread in not in any is ******g on the sleeve. Many of us are heading your way BUT, right now we are banded and having band issues and need band help!

I think she had a bad day...she's usually not that type of poster. This forum IS dead, compared to even last year. There were a lot of posts daily, some social, some with questions, etc, but it was lively and active. Part of it is the Happy Bandster Group. Many of the newbies have gone there and newbies really are what keeps these boards active.

the mention of ******g on the sleeve is a valid one - as many here have been upset with other WLS patients talking smack about the lapband....because they don't have one.
yet others here post false stats about the sleeve & other WLS..., again, valid comment.
i also was the recipient of blaming the patient for my issues.
ping away about what input you'd like - i have permanent liver damage & diagnosed with fibromyaligia after being banded with ZERO comorbids.
