I am 3 weeks today and I was a bit jittery the night before also.  The doctor definitely wanted me out of the bed and walking that day because it helps with the gas, which you may end up with a lot of.  I hate vomiting also, but of you follow doctors orders, you should be okay.  Thankfully, I have been able to keep evrything down so far.  Congratulations on taking this step and I hope everything goes well

Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip.  I walk as soon as I could.  I walked all the time at home.  It felt better to walk than try to lay down.  Not much sleep.  Also feel free to belch, belch and belch some more.

I have Parrots and one of them picked up the belching and still makes fun of me.  (They learn very well when covered at night.)

I also found Gas-X and heating pad helped some of the gas pains, doesn't always help but worth a try. If gas isn't moving try laying on your back and pull your knees up as close to your chest as you can without hurting your incisions and hold it for 30 sec or so.relax and repeat if needed.
You won't need to know about this right away but when you get to solid food and start getting fills take tiny bites the size of a pencil eraser or smaller, chew until it's liquidy in your mouth then swallow. Wait a few seconds to make sure it went down ok. It's a good idea to get in the habit of putting your fork down between bites, keeps you from eating too fast. Trust me if you do these things you shouldn't vomit, but I guarantee you will vomit at least once learning to eat. Also use a small plate like a saucer for your plate that will be the perfect size for your eating plan. Also measure your food and journal what you eat, yeah it's a pain but that is what will bring you success. It's so easy to be off when you just eyeball it. Remember DO NOT drink with your meal as it will wash the food thru and then you will end up hungry sooner. Practice these things and hopefully you'll have a smooth ride.
