Well, it is almost time to do the deed!

Still a bit jittery, mainly because I have so much that needs to be done around the house beforehand, and I'm a it anxious to know how I will do afterwards (I hate to vomit...)

Any words of wisdom on things I should watch for/do for this next week?  Would love to hear how others did they're first week or so.
Thx

lots and lots of walking. I think that is what saved me from having hardly any pain. I took pain meds the first day and that was it .

I got up and started to walk as soon as I got back to my hospital room .I walked for 10 min sat down in a chair ( do not get back in bed ) for about 20 min and got back up and walked again.

I did that clear through till 7 pm that night and I was doing so well they let me go home that night.

When I got home I took it a bit easier . I would get up and walk every 30 min for about 10 min or so.

Your upper stomach will feel like you did a million and one sit ups though lol.

If you are tummy sleeper like me I did sleep downstairs in the lazy boy chair the firs 72 hrs just so I wouldn't flop over in my sleep.

After that I put a pillow in front of my belly to keep me from rolling over but I was back to sleeping on my stomach about 10 days out .

If you have fur babies make sure you put a pillow over your tummy so when they jump on you to lay down it wont hurt you.  Mine must knew I was hurt because they didn't do the doggie flop down they laid down really soft and easy :o)

Keep drinking water take lots of sips keep a water bottle with you at all times . Drink even if you are not thirsty.

The first week after my surgery I did a lot of napping . Just take it easy and follow your doctors eating instructions to a  "T".  The first six weeks is healing time and you dont want to be eating things to fast and make y our stomach work over time .

I was on liquids for a week

mushy foods for a week

soft foods for two weeks

reg foods starting the fifth week if I could handle it.

Good Luck !!

thanks Sue.  I just dont post that much anymore . I come back every few days to see what is going on but that is just about it .

Just been busy went to the beach and Busch Gardens in Va  for two weeks and getting back on track after that .

Want to lose 20 pounds before our big Disney trip in Nov so been working on that .  Other then that things are pretty good.

Took alot of time off this summer with the exercise so trying to get myself back on track with that and being more picky on what I eat like I was before.  I got extremely lazy this past summer so need to get back into the groove again lol .

You will do it! I am headed down to Orlando for Thanksgiving. We go once a year. Don't alway**** the sites, sometimes to chill or play golf! Luckily I don't have to travel far.

Hi steelerfan1!  Glad to hear things are going OK.
I got back on track getting ready for Disney.  I was
taking two little grandsons, 3&6 by myself.  I never
could have made it if I hadn't gotten the thirty pounds
off pre Disney.  I did it with Atkins and hard work, literally.
We where clearing land cutting trees and hauling brush.
But, well worth it being able to keep up with one while
pushing the other.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
