Just curious do most of the bandsters do theirs as outpatient. I know that my WLS says yes of course minus complications. I have to admit I am sneaking to do this so my Mom don't know she would croak. Of course my Mom is a tiny woman she is 4'8 and 94 lbs. Only been a few more pounds in her whole life. Thanks

Banding HAS been done on an outpatient basis, but a lot of docs won't do it that way and some insurers won't cover surgery that way.  IMHO - it's better to stay overnight.

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.

Bette's right. It can be done SDS, but it's best to stay overnight.

My insurance is pushing to do it out patient.  They fight the overnight.
Go figure.

They would only OK the band out as a OP.  I hope there isn't too much
wrong in there.  To tell the truth on the one hand it would have been so
hand to leave the same day, not sure when they would have done the swallow test.  On the other hand I would have had a better night at home.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I was self pay and had an outpatient procedure at a surgical center with full nursing and anesthesia care.

I arrived at 6 am for a 7:30 procedure, had a hiatal hernia repair and realize Band and was home by 1 pm.

I went straight tobed for about 2 hours and then was upevery hour to walk and sip water.

I had a script for Vicodin but only took some liquid extra strength Tylenol.

I drove to the grocery store and Library the next afternoon and was walking 2-3 miles, gently around my neighborhood.

I didn't sneak out to do it, though.  My husband was with me or in the waiting room the whole time.  He was with me thor a few days post op, too.

I was op. No problems. I also had a hernia repair, home by 2:00 pm, rested the first day then up and walking. I did have someone to stay with me the first couple of days. Good Luck!

I was outpatient, in at 7, home by 5. Did great except needing pain meds in the night. Other than looking like I was 22 mos. pregnant from the surgical gas and swelling no one would have known.
