I have blue cross and medicare. It didn't even cross  my mind about paying for refills. I just assumed if they approved the band they would approve the fills. I hope I am as lucky as you. thanks

Do you have a blue cross supplement or a medadvantage plan thru blue cross?  I have a top tier medadvantage plan and my follow up visits (whether a fill, diagnostic or office visit) is $10.

It's good that you are checking this out now because I went from insurance that covered my fills to an insurance that not only didn't cover fills but has a total exclusion for anything bariatric related. Which is another reasdon I daily regret getting a band! I went from coverage to having to pay $225 for fills and unfills! Needless to say I didn't get them very often. In fact I only got unfills the 3rd year because my band kept tightening. It really chapped my hide to have to pay that much to take saline out when I already paid to put it in. I so wish that I had known about the sleeve before I had this horrid band!

Most include the first 3 (I think it was 3) within the surgery costs, but after that it depends. Your WLS should know, or call your insurance co. Mine covers them, I do have a $12 co-pay. Just remember you may have to go in for years. It will slow down, but things come up. But the good part is you can always adjust it. Not a one time pony. Good luck.

Bear in mind the open enrollment is coming up, so if you're not happy with current coverage, you can change it.

I was self pay for my band And fills we're $15. And free for office visit if no fill was needed! I think this is one reason my surgeon has such great results. It wasn't about making money for him, it was about helping his patients. Call your surgeon's office and ask the price. My insurance now, after 4 years, covers the band, so they would pay for my fills.

WOW!  This is just amazing!  Fills runing from $15 tothe  $250 that my insurance is paying.  You would think they would want to convert me from band to sleeve just to get away from paying for the fills.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I changed my mind and am now getting the sleeve instead of the band.  I dont want to deal with the aftermath of the band. Do some more research and read as many posts here on OH as you can. Read the good and the bad ones. At the beginning of my journey i was set on the band but the more research i did the more i thought the band is not the right thing for me.
Good Luck
