Getting Lap Band in about a week!
I am getting lap banded Aug 28th and am nervous and excited! I have heard good things and horror stories from this forum. I have been dieting for 3 months and have lost 30 lbs and am really hoping the band can help me continue losing and KEEP IT OFF! I have been heavy my entire life and am so ready to be healthy. I am on the very low fat HMR shakes diet right now to "shrink my liver" and am doing pretty well. I am a double amputee so have found it hard to find excersices that can work well for me since walking long distances can cause me major pain. I just ordered a set of stretch bands and balance ball so will give that a whirl this week! Any tips or hints is appreciated!

Hi Sara,
Props to you for doing GREAT on your preop diet and weight loss. All the best for the 28th and your recovery.
Post surgery there is a bit of bloating and gas that can linger several days. I was able to get relief with walking. You might ask your doctor for alternate suggestionst hat will work for you. I know some people take gas-x or like product - ask your doctor what you can use.
Get your liquids ready at home for your two weeks of recovery. Check and see if your doctor wants you to do protein drinks during that time (I think most do, but some don't)...anyway, don't assume you have the checklist down. Review and get your shopping list.
Pace yourself, it is a journey not a race. Rest, heal and feel better soon. Mushies will never taste so good. Keep us posted.
Best wishes.
Amy

Hi... Do it!! it is the best thing that I have ever done. I had mine on June 25th and I haven't lost an incredible amount of weight 20 lbs so far but I'm so happy. I finally have control over my food habit. The best thing this has done for me is that it has gotten me back to the gym. Go for it!! Good luck!
The band only works if u work w/ it. Don't listen to negativity. Getting the band is a personal decision. It is a great way to learn who u r and what food has done to u. Don't let othets' failures become ur failure. Do what ur heart tells u. U r going to do great w/ band. Just remember it is a tool not a solution. Many ppl thk its a solution & dont try to lose the weight bc they assume the band will do the work for them. It wont. It just helps u get on ur way. Just b positive & believe in ueself. U can do it!!!
