Wow Ok so i'm new to the site been her for 9 days 9 days with my new band.  Ready some of these post are really scaring me.  Is this band not going to work for me I'm only down 2 pounds since my surgery granted I just looked at my diet again and I've been missing the 16 oz of protein drink that I must say was in bold print but I haven't been drinking that mostly  yogurt and jello and soup.  But I am not eating hardly anything and the pounds are still staying on.  My activity level is not great yet just walking .

But I have to say I don't know if I did the right thing I'm scared because of the little weight loss aslo because of what a lot of people on here are saying that they've had band failure I so hope i did not do the wrong thing for myself.

 1. BLOCK anyone who is scaring the **** out of you. NOW. If, god forbid, something happens down the road where you need their advice, you can unblock. But stop letting them make you nuts.

2. Remember that YOUR road to weight loss is not going to be the same as anyone else's. I lost weight really, really fast, but that is just ME. Some people lose slowly. Some are in between.

3. Relax.

4. Remember that your body is still in a healing stage. Give it, and yourself, a break for a few weeks, willya?

5. See number 3.

It is really important to hear the negative as well as the positive so you know now what to look out for.

But right now, block the nay sayers! Get to know your band, start to feel confident, then you can unblock them!

Some people have really bad experiences. A very large number do not! I am not entering  once again into a statistics war because it gets old, but the experience of the Uk national health service is completely at odds with the stats people here throw at us.    I an "only" six years out, not as long as Bette! But I have many contacts, met face to face not on an anonymous internet site, who have had and continue to have great success. Will I have my band forever? Who knows?

What I do know is that newcomers leave this board because they are frightened away. I know this because I "meet" them on other boards. In one case, a member's husband made her leave as she was becoming so terrified.

The band can fail. The band can also work. I has changed my life. kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Bette and Kate are right. Relax, and just focus on healing. As for the lack of weight loss I have to tell you to not worry. For one thing I was one who didn't lose a pound for 4 weeks but lost inches after the third week. It is possible to not lose untill you are at an optimal fill level and that is tough to take but if you determine to hold the course and eat properly you will see it begin to come off. Remember, the band gives the slowest weight loss at about 1-2 lbs a week.

Again, Relax!

Don't borrow trouble. Be aware of the things that can happen... but if you're smoothly sailing along, just keep at it.

It's important to know the signs of adverse things... but just be aware of them. Don't obsess about it. Take it one day at a time. (Captain Obvious and her Cliche!) But it's true!

I have not had surgery yet and am still undecided as to which type.. your post made me think of some things about life that are true whatever your situation.  Hope it helps.  I will keep checking your progress.

Worrying will not change tomorrow, but will rob you of joy today.  Right now, you have successfully come through surgery, you have lost a few pounds, you are on the road to recovery....

Keep a list of your blessings and refer to it often.

Statistically, 95% of what we worry about never happens - think of all the wasted time.  You can enjoy your band and use it happily.

The hard part with being new with the band is that it works backwards from other WLS.
When you first are banded and unfilled you don't have restriction.  It is hard mentally as
you just went thru surgery and aren't losing like you think and are also hungry.  The others
can't eat as much going out the gate and lose alot.  The call this banders hell, you went thru
this thing and you aren't seeing results.  When you start getting fills than you get that
restriction and eat less and have less hunger.

With the others the swelling goes down and they start healing and over time they can
eat more.  Over time hopefully you will be eating less.

I hope this will make since and help you a little to get thru this hard time.

Good Luck and take care of yourself.  Have a healthy and safe weight loss.
