Surgery booked for Aug 24... pre op diet sucks!

I'm having surgery on Aug 24.  I'm extremely nervous and could use support.  Anyone else getting surgery right away (or just got it)?

Also, pre-op protein shakes are giving me a horrible headache.  Does anyone know how long that is going to last?

I don't think your shakes are giving you the headache.  It's more likely dehydration.

Drink as much water as you can.

Keep your head up!  I remember the pre-op diet.  It really is what freed me of some of my bad eating and let me focus on my proper diet after getting the lapband.  I was really focused after going through liquid/mushies for so long.  This is only temporary and shall pass.  It is worth it on the other end, trust me.  You have motivated me after reading your post.  I recently had a baby and lost my focus during my pregnancy.  Reading about your pre-op diet made me realize what I needed to do to refocus after thinking about my preop.  I need to go back and start over from the very beginning to regain my focus.

I just remember feeling like I had to jump over all the hurdles before getting the surgery.  On the other side of surgery, it was all worth it so far.  I am thankful for my band and what it has allowed me to accomplish.  I still have weight to lose, but am pleased with where I am now.  Lord knows I wouldn't have been able to do it without my band.

Also, your headaches could be caused by your diet - giving up sugar and caffenine. Hang in there, the headaches will go away in a few days to a week.  I know, I know.  Its also good training for your post op which I thought two weeks of liquids was harder after surgery..at least the 2nd work was harder.

I tried to drink a lot of water today.... still got the headache so i'm hoping it's just the sugar withdrawl, then there will be an end.

Lap Band on 07/19/12
Make sure to drink plenty of water! I just had my band on the 19th of last month & thought I was doing everything right but just got outta the hospital this monday after an 8 day stay for dehydration & severe headache. So just when you think you have had all the water you need, drink alittle more it may help. Good luck to ya.
