RNY on 12/12/12

I have recently only been getting on the RNY forum because I am wanting a revision. I also switched surgeons because mine pretty much fell off the planet. I could never get an appointment without waiting months. Then I would get one and he would be 3 hours late. Anytime I actually did get to see him and try to explain that I wasnt getting restriction he would just rush me and give me another fill. It has been 3 years.I started at 372 got down to 345 ( lost 15 of it from bieng in the hospital for 9 days becauce the first band he put in was to small and he had to re operate and put in another) I now weigh 370. I had an appointment with my surgeon who did my lapband ( of course I had to make it months in advance)  to talk about revision to RNY and was informed the day before that he was no longer with Blue Cross. So I found another surgeon and have a consultaion on August 20th and am so excited. However I have a band feeling something my be very wrong with my band. my stomach had been feeling sore and weird. Also where my port would be had been hurting. I hope nothing is wrong. I just want it out and a revision. I didnt get enough information about the surgery and that was my fault. I heard from one surgeon that If you have over 100 pounds to lose that the band is not a good option and I have over 200 to lose. I wish my surgeon would have recomeded RNY in the first place. My band had caused nothing but pain and heartache. I pray nothing it wrong and it can just be easily removed. My insurance does cover revisions THANK THE LORD!

 Amber,
I am sorry that your band and your surgeon have been such disappointments to you.

I have had a completely different experience, my surgeon is very responsive and available.
My band has been a great choice for me.......I am thrilled that you are getting another chance and that you have found a different surgeon.

I hope that the band is well and just not effective for,you and that you get it out without incident.

My best wishes to you.
Kath

Amber,
Good luck! I had a surgeon that moved out of state when I was about 3-4 mos. post op. That is one fill and then just left to figure everything out on your own. It took a year before I found a new surgeon.
I hope everything goes good for you, please keep us updated.

Wishing you the very best with your new surgeon, hopefully he can give you better advice. Unfortunately many docs were so enthused with the band they used where it shouldn't have been used. You are right anyone with over 100 lbs to lose really needs a better surgery. Grsnted there have been a few like Bette who have lost over a hundred lbs but they are few and far between. Good luck to you and you might want to also investigate the VSG and DS surgery they too are very effective.
