Question for the veterans

I am 9 days out of getting the lapband, unfortunatly I didnt follow my diet instructions and went from clear liquids to pureed. I havent eaten anything thicker than pudding and I am not in any pain, but I am afraid that I have messed up my healing. I will be calling the surgeons office in the morning, just looking for any reassurance from the vets.

Thank you
Christina

Nine days out I was on pudding  , yogurt, mashed potatoes things that was very soft .

I was on 7 days on liquids, then 14 days on pureed / soft foods then went slowly to regular foods.

Every doc is different though on how he wants you to do things but IMO you will be okay.  I would not go to anything more then pudding, yogurt, , mashed potatoes, or even re-fried beans .

You dont want your stomach to be working to hard to digest food .

Of course you know you should be going by what your surgeon says. That being said, some doctors do allow puréed food after a week, so I doubt you have done any damage. I only had to stay on liquids a week before moving to mushies. I was banded in Sept of 06, still have my band and have not had any problems with it that I didn't cause myself. ( Eating too fast, or not chewing enough.) I know there are some that have not been so fortunate. Just speaking for myself. Hope you have much success with your new tool. I think a key part of my success was regular doctor visits and discussing my concerns with him the first couple years. I still go in yearly for a check up, or more often if I need to. I have lost and kept off a little over 150 lbs. Yes, I would like to lose a few more but it has changed my life so much for the better and I am only sorry I didn't do it before I did.

Thank you all for the reassurance, I called the surgeons office today and they said that as long as I had no pain, nausea or vomiting than I should be fine. Just go back to the liquids.
