Going to Weigh****chers after Lap Band Surgery
WW doesn't work for me because it doesn't address my issues with food addiction. But everyone is different -- definitely worth a try if it's worked for you in the past!

Here's my two cents. I think first and foremost the fact that you caught yourself and could assess your damage control with a mere 18 lbs. Bravo! Secondly, you are not a failure at all infact you are quite wise in realizing that this band is only a mere tool and it comes back to main problem at hand which is our minds. If working with an additional tool such as Weigh****chers to help combat the mind I say more power to you.
Believe me when I say I understand about how you feel about returning back to weigh****chers I too have been there more times than I would like to admit and I still to this day have every food journal and kit that comes when you join.
Joining WW doesn't mean failure because this band was never meant to "fix" us only to help us along our journey. The work still all depends on you. I know we get so comfortable in our post op lifes to the point we get into a slippery slope. Please take this a learning opportunity in your journey and continue to grow.
You have given me some inspiration to do better. I have allowed myself to gain back 40 lbs and I am almost 5 years post op and I am just down right disgusted with myself. I have blamed it on the loss of a baby and then the loss of my father (each 3mths a part from each other) but at the end of day the damage is all done by no one else but me. I believe you can do it and thank you so much for sharing.
Take care,
Broom

I joined WW about 5 or 6 weeks ago and have lost 10 lbs since. I didn't tell them about my surgery...there's no need to. It's really helping me get a grip on sliders and non-food calories, like wine! I have to remember that the piece of chocolate here and there from the candy bowl in the office adds up...as does the little bites of my kids' food I take while I'm cooking them dinnner. Those little things I think have been what has kept me from losing lately, and WW is great because it really makes you put about every calorie you put in your mouth. The old saying the band is around your stomach and not your head is SO true. If you think it might help you, why not give it a shot!
I had tried to join WW a few years ago but mentioned I had the Lapband because the moderator remembered me from 6 years ago (my last name is very unique) and she said that a WLS patent is not allowed to join. I left and went to a difference center. I didn't mention it and joined. Later I learned it was the moderator who feels it is unfair to the others to have WLS patients in the group, but WW as a whole has no problem.

When I made my comment higher in this thread, I was basing it on YOUR experience. I remember (and it was a LONG, LONG time ago) you had mentioned this in a thread about WW.
Nice to see you!

Oh yeah! I had written about it previously! I can kind of understand it. With the Band, we do have one more tool that the others at WW do not have. I did lose faster than others in my group and I always felt a little guilty! I needed the structure at the time so I attended regularly.

WW as a organization where you PAY hold no restrictions as to who can join or not. As you've probably noticed in LIFE there is a stigma with WLS in general so anyone who has a problem with it comes from that stance.
ALL that aside when I did WW years BEFORE surgery I found it hard to comply because I was a bottomless pit and was always hungry. Post WLS things are way different. But for me because it's STILL about my choices and my head when I went back to WW with my regain I wasn't really ready to let the weight go and do what I needed to do!!
Keep trying, never give u p.
