Thanks! Unfortunately this is becoming the norm for bandsters past 4 years. I'm home now after being in the hospital for 5 and a half days. It was really a traumatic experience. I won't go in to it all but I'm doing so much better now that I'm home.

I'm glad you're okay.  Five and a half days in the hospital... poor dear.
I've watched similar things happen for the past 9 years. You're not alone. I hope you heal up well. ( I had my band removed about 7 years ago in emergency surgery. It is traumatic! )

Take care.

Sorry, haven't been on here for a while.  With my band, they did a flouro after they emptied it.  I had a hiatal hernia.  He told me that it would heal itself and that I could get it filled in about 3 months.  I asked him about having it removed, he told me NO, that it does not need to be removed and he refused to remove it because he was not the surgeon who put it in.  He would give me fills, for additional costs of course, but he would not take it out.  He said if I wanted it out, I would have to find my original surgeon, who, 2 months before worked for him at his weight loss clinic, but has since moved (without letting me know, mind you).  I couldn't find him anywhere (come to find out he has since moved 8 times to 5 different states, AND, at the time of my surgery, he was involved in a lawsuit regarding a patient that he operated on dying).

I could not find anyone that would take that thing out, tried SEVERAL doctors until yes, I finally gave up.

As for how I am doing now, 1-1/2 years later.....
I now have Rheumatoid arthriits, Fibromyalgia, IBS-D, & TMJ.  My current doctor believes that all of these are relating back to when the band slipped and the trauma that my body went through.  I cannot take certain meds due to the damage to my stomach.  Injections of steroids, well, there went the weight that I did lose.

Just wanted to give an update...

You can't find anyone willing to take it out?  I would be heading to Mexico to get it out with all it had done to you!

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

When I asked for it to be taken out, I had insurance for them to pay for it to be taken out, however, that doctor refused because he was not the one to put it in.  I am a single mother with 4 kids, 1 that was left at home and taking care of 3 of my grandkids at the time, along with my mother.  I was the only person working (my daughter was in school, grandkids are young, and mother disabled).  I tried several doctors to have it removed and no one would even consider it.   The daily vomiting was "normal" to a lot of them.  I didn't have the "ability" to go to Mexico to have it removed.

It was finally removed a year and half ago when I about collapsed.  That is when my stomach had twisted and died.  Gangrene had set in and I almost died from the band cutting off all the blood supply to my stomach.
