I know the only way I can stay on track is to journal everything I eat, yep it's pain in the arse but the minute I stop I lose it. I have to take the time to plan meals and have healthy snacks. I also still at 4 yrs out use my saucer for a dinner plate and I don't ever even put a drink on the table so I'm not tempted. I also measure every serving so I don't just guess, cause I'm a lousy guesser!
Is there any chance you are too tight or that you have lost saline over the year? That has happened to quite a few people who have had problems losing. You obviously know what to do because you did it once. Start making changes every week so you don't get overwhelmed. you can do it, just pretend you are staring from the beginning!

Thanks for the support.  I have noticed that I moved up to the large size dinner plates.  Back to the small one.  It is amazing how easily those habits come back.  You always have to keep your eye on the ball.

You have gotten a lot of good advice here. Welcome back and good luck. With all of the realization you have made you should be able to move forward. Good luck! You did it before, you can do it again.

You have gotten such great advice! I have been there. I think a lot of us have. I was in freak out mode a few months ago, went back to basics, and am losing again. (all with a wonky band... just had fixed).

It is totaly do-able! Go back to band basics. Don't drink with your meal. Eat protein first! Small bites, chew well. No snacking on sliders. You have lost a great deal of weight... you know what to do!

This is only a hiccup if that is all you let it be. Hang in there! Start now... not tomorrow, or the next day... or before you know it a year will have passed. One look at my weight chart and you will see... I did that. It is no fun re-losing over 50 pounds... again.

I think it takes a long time to realize that if you want to lose the weight or maintain the weight loss, it is a lifetime struggle. Or vigilance. The band only helps what you do. My advice, since you asked, is get to a support group as well. And try to worry less about what others think, and focus on you. Try rewarding yourself for your victories, and find ways to relax. One thing that worked for me is a hot relaxing bath 3 nights in a row. Knowing my day was going to end with a hot relaxing bath made the whole day better. Make a list of things that make you feel good, and incorporate them into your day.

I haven't posted in forever either, but I came on today and I read your post.  I felt like you were talking to me!  I, too, felt like a failure.  I weighed 322# when I had surgery almost five years ago, and I had gotten down to 170#.  Little by little, I had gained back 50#.  My doctor is two hours away and he had me going to a fill center -- I never saw the same person twice, and my doctor kept referring me to that fill center (which he was part owner of!).  Anyway, I was negative as can be, hopeless, if you will, until a friend told me about a doctor in my area who had just done her surgery.  I called the doctor, and I went in yesterday.  He gave me hope again!  I had a fill, I see him, and him only, every month, and he has dealt with many people who need to "get going" again.  Today, I feel good, and I feel in control of myself again.  The doctor said that my after-care had helped me fail, or lack thereof, and I said that I have been a part of the failure, too.  Together, he and I are getting me back on track.  I am not lamenting the gained weight, which does no good, but I am looking forward again and seeing myself where I want to be.  My point is that you, too, can get back on track.  Either call your surgeon and/or find another who you feel comfortable with.  You've been given a tool, and that tool will continue to work with you, but you've got to take the first step.  I'm in your shoes, and I hope this helps at all.  Stepping on that scale was liberating in a way because I knew that I was taking the first step back to the right path.

I went through the same thing myself.  YOU ARE HUMAN.  YOU HAVE AN ADDICTION TO FOOD THUSLY it's not always easy to break the addiction.

Here's what I did to get back on track:

1.  confront my addiction again.  realize it's hold over me

2.  inventory EVERY SINGLE THING I ATE regardless if it was ice cream or protein

3.  find a protein plan that works for you and realize you have to commit to it for life.  For me, the paleo plan really seems best for me although I do add in whey protein shakes made with unsweetened almond milk (ie I do have a bit of dairy).

4.  RID YOUR HOME OF YOUR DEMON TRIGGER FOODS.  For me it was actually leaving my home and moving into a condo for 2 months on the beach (yes, I was fortunate to be able to do this) and only bought the foods I could eat....nothing else.

5.  Go cold turkey and get off carbs.  The first week go nuts on protein shakes you like (not with milk...soooo much sugar in that), meat, meat and more meat.  Find sugar free condiments because if you're using ketchup, bbq sauce and sugary salad dressings then you're defeating yourself.  it will keep you hungry and make you want to keep grazing.

6.  By day 5 you will notice you aren't as hungry.  You won't be as crabby.  The protein shakes will actually satisfy you.  DON"T diversify your food the first week or two.  too many choices will make you want to eat more.  I had cottage cheese, meat, shakes in my house and that was about it.  The next week I added salads and I use walden farms no carb, no fat dressing.  I love it!

7.  adding fresh spinach and organic chia seeds to your diet will help clean your liver out and allow your liver to rid your body of fat.

8.  Take it one day at a time.  Get a therapist if you have to...why are you over eating?  I know my many issues why I turn to food.

9.  I started walked on the beach even when I had no will to get out of bed.  Even if it was for 5 minutes (because 5 would turn into 15)

10.  I have lost 30 pounds since April.  It's not fast, but it's in the right direction.  Once in a while I DO "cheat" because even skinny people have a treat now and then, but I made sure my addition to carbs was under control before I even considered it.

If you need a buddy I'm here.  Just PM me on here.  Hugs....you can restart.  Your life is not over because you fell. Just get back up :)
