i'm jumping into this conversation late...have not been here in a few months!  but i think you just nailed it for all of us in this post!  one thing for me....i have had to understand that yes....food is an addiction for me.  it's not a fun addiction .  and so, i work had to try and battle it every day.  sad to say, some days i lose the battle.  but then, i have to get right back up and try again.

i think you've lost an amazing amount of weight..you should be soooo proud of yourself!  remember where you started, and HOW MUCH HEALTHIER you are are RIGHT now!

Tell me just a few things about your diet.  What are you eating?  What quantities are you eating?  Are you tracking your food intake.  Unfortunately this is not a temporary fix for our problems.  The hardest lesson learned is that this is a permanent life change.  What we eat, when we eat, how much we eat.  What is your resctriciton level like?  How many fills have you gotten?   You have not failed you have fallen.  With a helpful hand you can get back up and start all over.

Just forgetting all the rules.  Old habits slipping back. Drinking while eating.  Slider foods High calorie High fat foods... Oh I have been so bad.   I guess one good thing is I realized it before I gained it all back.  Time to face the music.  I need to come here more.  Get help because old habit have rises up in me again.  get focused and think of me first again.  Stop sitting on my past achievements of success and letting them wither and die.  Feel and remember the pain I felt about if I didn't get healthy I would lose my life. Remember the burden I was to my DH because of my limited abilityBe accountable Be committed Be honest with myself and other who are trying to help me. Move more and eat less...lol Journal food and feeling everyday and come here more often and reach out help myself and others.

Sounds like you have it all lined out right there before you.  Now JUST DO IT! as Nike would say.  LOL!  I know it is easier said than done and we all fall into that trap along the way, but the lucky ones realize it before we gain it all back and reposition ourselves and tackle it again.  We all lose sight of the fact that it is a lifelong committment.  You can do this and so can I, we just keep at it, day after day!

I am right there with you...... I can't lose the weight that I put on during a unfill.

For me I can't blame my band though because it is me that put the food in my mouth, I know no matter how tight I could get I would always be able to eat an endless amount of chips, crackers, cake, ice cream, bread and all the stuff I know I shouldn't have.

Now I can't go tighter without getting heartburn from drinking water (not food) and I could right now eat about 4-5 ounces of solid protein then veggies......some might say that because I can't go tighter where I would only be able to have around 2-3 ounces of solid protein that my band isn't working........but unless I stop eating the things I know are bad for me it is still my fault.

I have found that 5 htp is working on helping me control my cravings and I am not giving up...of course I am premenopausal now which makes losing harder so I could blame that also but until I get control of eating the wrong things the responsibility rests solely with me.....

Good thing about this board is there is always support I plan to be around more often also, I find I do better........ you should get support from your Surgeons office, just tell her if we didn't have food issues we wouldn't have needed the band.

I also think it is easier to take it off then to keep it off, especially for me because I didn't fix the brain......the 5 htp seems to be helping with that compulsion to eat, it didn't kill my appetite just that intense urge to binge. It could be a placebo effect but if it works for me that is all I care about lol..... Google 5 htp and 5 htp for weight loss....

I had been using 5 htp at night to sleep better for about 2 years then I found out that it can help during the day with compulsive overeating...I don't take it at night anymore just during the day.
It helps with serotonin receptors (it doesn't create it)....... putting the below description........of course you would need to check with your primary before beginning it because although I have had no side effects there may be drug interaction.

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), also known as oxitriptan (INN), is a naturally occurring amino acid and chemical precursor as well as a metabolic intermediate in the biosynthesis of the neurotransmitters serotonin and melatonin from tryptophan.

NEVER should a surgeon be allowed to make you feel like a failure! DO NOT accept it from him or her and remember who works for who. YOU pay their bills so he/she works for you.

You are struggling and your surgeon's job is to help you succeed, not to make you get even more down on yourself. The last thing you need, when you already feel like crap about yourself, is to have guilt and shame heaped upon you by the people whose job it is to help you.

Chin up, and take no sh*t from their office.
