calorie counting

How many calories do you eat in a day? what is your recommended daily allowance of calories? please included if you exercise, etc. how many calories per meal do you normally consume?

according to the website below I should be consuming 1360 calories a day for "extreme fat loss"
is that too much for some one with the band?

I use MyFitnessPal.com. It let's me change the number of calories and proteins to fit where I am now.

I am only six months out and eating around 6/00 calories a day still. My NUT is ok with that for now. Still not hungry, but trying to get 70 proteins in also!

I see others eating more, but they may burn more calories or are maintaining now.

I burn about 400-500 calories each day.

I have just started using my fitness pal and it has helped me lose another 6 pounds in the last 3 weeks.
I am watching my carbs and staying at or below 1200 calories,
hoping to get a fill next week so I can get back down under 1000 or less per day,
I was eating too many carbs and discovered this by using the tracker.

 I try to stay about 1200-1400 cal per day. I work out 4-5 times a week including strength training. I am around goal. Not really sure how much more i want to lose though. I am fairly happy where I am now. Anyway, I guess that question depends on what your weight loss goals are. I have read you should NEVER go below 1200 because your body/organs/brain need a certain number of calories just to function (its called the basic metabolic rate, you can google it). Also, if you go too low then your body can go into "starvation mode" and actually shut your metabolism down. I have been very successful (112 pounds lost to date) with staying above the 1200 cal/day mark.

What Katie said to you my doc  , NUT ,told me the same thing and my personal trainer.   He does NOT like us to go below 1200 a day he said its not healthy at all for our bodies to be eating 500 to 600 calories a day  .

You are going to drop weight if you eat that amount (600) but pretty soon your body is going to get use to it and what are you going to do ? Drop even more calories ?  Go down to 400 or even less. Heck you might as well staple your mouth shut then and dont bother to be eating.

The idea behind the band is to learn portion control, to eat healthy and to exercise not to starve your body into losing weight.  . 

Another thing my doc has always stressed to me is if we cant eat at least  one cup of food or even a cup and half then to him we are to tight and need fluid taken out .  He does not like us at all eating 1 / 2 cup of food per meal or even less.  I have seen people on here saying they are only eating 1/4 cup of food per meal and they are full IMO that means you got to much fluid in you .

Just be careful because your body does need a certain amount of calories to do the daily functions and because I kept my calories at 600 per day I went to Zumba one night and passed out  .   It was scary and it's nothing to mess around with .  It can be harmful.

Thanks Kate and Steelerfan! I thought I was eating too much when I went over the 1200 mark.
I walk miles at a time so I probably need to keep doing this amount.
 and now jus****ching my carbs.

That is a good idea :o) .  The days I do Zumba I eat between 1200 to 1600 that day and then the days I dont do the exercise I eat around 1200 .

If I get stuck I will drop my calories back to 1000 for a week or so but no longer then that .

The previous posters are right, don't wanna mess up metabolism going too low. If you can't eat you can't eat.

I am at goal and I do about 1300 and I exercise like a fiend! (Sp?)
Need the energy from my foods to fuel the body !

Watch the type of carbs you take in! They can get cravings started!

I have done 4 5k's since March. I plan on doing my next one in mid September.
It's been too hot to run in the morning so I do my race walking at night around 7pm.
I hope to do a 10k or half marathon next year!
