Sharon Osbourne** Getting Rid of her Band**??

The other night I was watching Kathy  -  Funny chick but what a potty mouth .

Sharon Osborne and Jane Fonder were her guest's.  I knew that Sharon Osborne had had WLS, but always thought that she  had RYN for some reason.  When she said that she had the band and made a joke about having a glass of wine to open it up so she could eat more --  I was a bit confused.

Not sure why it popped into my head but I just googled Sharon Osborne and WLS and this article came up

http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20060887,00. html

1st thing that is confusing is that it is an archived article from 2006 ??  So did she have the band removed and then replaced ?  Did she not do anything and still has her original band  ??  Anybody know ??

The point I got from this story is that no matter who you are or how much money you have or what connections you have  - it is still your hand choosing the food to put into your mouth.

I am 3 years out with my band this month  ** knock on wood * * still happy and trucking along.   BUT I still seem to think that I could eat more than I physically can.  Sometimes that last bite ( the devil on my shoulder makes me do it) can be a doozy and up it comes.

I know Sharon Osbourne had WLS but I really don't know what kind.

As for the wine comment, THAT I do understand.  Alcohol will relax your throat, esphagus, etc.  So, if you have a lapband, it will allow you to take in more food that normal.  However, where it actually is beneficial is if you have a stuck episode, it may help the stuck food to pass.  Not that I am recommending it.

LOL   I am an 80's girl who got into trouble with the fruity wine coolers.

I can never put liquid on top of the stuck food.  No matter what liquid  it is so uncomfortable and up it comes.

I used to watch the Osbournes on MTV and seem to remember that she decided she wanted all foreign objects out of her body after her cancer treatment. She was very successful with her band though, I remember seeing her before and after pictures.

I remember reading/hearing years ago that she had the band and had to have it replaced as part of a planned maintenance. Maybe that was back in the day when they said replace every x years. Seems like she was having it out and had made comments about having anxiety about not having her band. Doesn't seem like you'd have the initial surgery, one to remove it and yet a separate one for the new one. I might be recalling incorrectly.

I knew she had the band, before I even knew what one was, LOL But I thought I heard a couple of years ago she had it removed. So interesting, did she or not?? I also, heard on here and in the news that Lisa Lapanelli had one recently put in. Carnie Wilson looks pretty good, so I guess hers is working for her, so far.

I am sure that a lot of people in the Entertainment business have had WLS but we will only know of a few.
