Thanks Kath!

I was thinking of doing just that....eating light for a few days prior.......might be a good way to jump start getting back on plan! I figure between eating light for a few days, only clears for the day prior and getting cleaned out might be good for a few pounds or a sweet and carb detox lol.....

Michele, sounds like you have a good plan.  My doctor said that using just pills had more cases of kidney problems than the drink, so he still went with the drink mix, plus 4 Dulcolax pills (very small, no problem swallowing) about 4 hours before I started drinking the mix.  I also took it easy on the food for a few days before.  One thing my niece (an RN) mentioned is using Vaseline on the appropriate "opening" to make sure you don't have discomfort once all the laxatives start to take effect!  And both my gastroenterologist and the anesthesiologist KNEW I had the lap band and understood it.  Good Luck!

I had mine on Thurs. with a 2 part prep. I drank the mixture at 6 pm it was 16oz followed by another 16 of water the day before. Also I could only have clear liquids all day. Started again at 6 am on Thurs but had to finish everything by 7 with the process schedlued for 10. They gave me a pill for nausa which didn't help, but I have done worse eating to fast. It went smoothly and I never knew it happened until I was told I could dress to go home.

Funny how different the preps are....... thanks for sharing your experience! Hopefully I can keep the nausea to a minimum, I am so bad with it.

I heard that the prep is the worse part and from all the posts it seems that way!

Thanks again,

Michele

Michele, the prep IS the worst part, and once you are pretty "empty" (usually within a few hours of drinking all the liquid), it's not bad.  My colonoscopies have been with propofol as the anesthetic, and recovery from that is usually very fast.  In fact both my husband and I went out for breakfast after our procedures because hunger was our main issue!  Good luck, and you're doing a great thing having the procedure...it can be a life-saver.

Oh Phyllis thank you for posting! I am having propofol as well and was a little worried about it because I get nauseau and vomiting from anesthesia........although I hear it isn't for long.

You have put me at ease, thanks so much!!!

I am actually having my first colonoscopy since my surgery and the doc recommended the colyte because there has been some data showing that the pill *may* contribute to bowel obstructions.

Has anyone else here had any issues with side effects right after lapband surgery ( mine was Dec 27, 2011) with such constipation from the pain medication ( hydrocodone) that my need for my colonoscopy on Monday is to determine if I have a fissure as a result?

After reading all these posts, I really need to call my Dr to see how she recommends drinking this stuff-yuck! Before my surgery, I had the pills and that was heaven. Then for my 2nd one, my insurance company would only pay for the liquid and that almost killed me and that was chucking it down. How the hell am I going to do this? I have a 6:45am appt  Mon, suppose to start at 4pm the day before.

My Dr also said to use "high fiber", but I have diverticulitis as well, Anything anyone recommends, more on the natural side, that we can use?

Even though I love my Dr, I do not feel very knowledgeable about alot of things because my time with her is so limited.

Thanks for any help in advance!
