Fill: didn't follow my own advice!!!
I always tell people that when they get a fill, drink some water before you leave the office. If you're too filled, you can often tell right away.
Yesterday, I went for a fill (0.3 cc) and did NOT remember to drink water until I was almost all the way home. Bad idea!
I was way too tight all night. I wasn't vomiting, but everything was going down very, very slowly and I only managed to get down one Campbell's "Soup on Hand" (10 ounces) and about 4 ounces of water all night. Then, reflux. Bleck!
Fortunately, I was able to get in to see them first thing and had half of the fill (0.15 cc) taken out. Ahhhhhh. So much better!
Moral of the story, part 1: Drink before you leave the office!
Moral of the story, part 2: Even us old-timers forget to listen to our own advice.

Yes indeed! In fact my own doc goes one better. Before I leave his office I have to drink water, wait a few minutes and then eat a yoghurt!
Glad you feel better now. Kate

For my fills they only require me to drink a tiny cup of water after but I had started to bring my own bottle and then took a big ole glug, like I do at home. I have been able to do that since the day of surgery so I use that as my standard. Now, if I can ever get refilled again you have given me a good reminder.
Must be something in the air! I went for a fill last week, 0.6 cc. Same thing, didn't wait until I finished all me water. Had to go back the next day. The nurse was going to take out 0.4, but she couldn't get my port. Doctor came in and took out all 0.6. You can bet next time I'll drink my entire bottle of water before I leave. Next appointment is in three weeks, but I may go back sooner for a tiny fill.
Glad you are feeling better now.

And for me, I take a protein shake to drink before I leave. I've had a fill, was fine, drank the paper cup of water they hand you. Went home had some yogurt and up it came. Had to go back for a small un-fill. So after that I started taking my own shakes to "test" it on.
Mari Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!
It's been a couple of years since I've had a fill, but my doctor always has me drink a glass of water after a fill. He will add or remove saline depending how the water goes down. He doesn't do fills under fluoro so this is how he's able to determine if the comfort of the fill. My old doctor did fills under fluoro. Sometimes, it "looked" different than it felt.
I like the idea of having yogurt or a protein shake since they're both thicker. If I ever get my port replaced-- currently has a leak, and I'm empty-- I'll keep that in mind.
