BAND SLIPPED?
I had all my fill on my band taken out yesterday and I spoke to Kelly regarding that and other options. I have a question. Is it possible that if I would wait 3 months, get another upper barium to see if all okay and then take it from there. Perhaps I could then go back to the "fills". The band slipped but it did not erode, and who knows maybe the possibility of still keeping the band might work? If for some reason down the line it doesn't then I could consider the other alternatives. What do you think? I would have to really buckle down and rely on my common sense and determination for those 3 months when I don't have any restrictions, but if it worked and may avoid another surgery, perhaps it could work? Any suggestions?
Have you had anyone that did have a slip and had to be unfilled do the above and was able to get back on track with refilling slowly? I know, of course, the possiblility it could happen again, but maybe it won't. Have other's been successful after a slip. I don't want to rush into surgery again for a bypass or sleeve gastrectomy if it is not neccessary. I am asking several peoples opinions as this is a serious matter to me, notwithstanding the possibility that my new insurance coverage is minimal, at best, and may not cover anything? I would appreciate any help or suggestions you might have?

I think it's worth a try, so go for it.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
My two cents: let the band sit empty for three months, do another upper GI. If the band has gone back into place, get a fill. If it hasn't, talk to your bariatric surgeon about the recommended course of action.
BTW, since your band is now empty, be aware, very aware, of what and how much you are eating. There is a likelihood you will gain weight while your band is empty under the best of cir****tances.
Best wishes and I hope your band goes back to where it belongs.

Thank you so much for your reply. I think I am going to wait the 3 months and see what happens after the upper GI. I joined MyFitnessPal.com and am logging in my food to keep track of it and exercise because I am so scared of weight gain. I have used it for the last month and like it. Thanks for the best wishes.... I am going to add luck on to that too!!
That was the hard part. I know that it is possible it might not heal and I might have to go with the surgery and part of me doesn't want to wait the 3 months, have the upper gi done and then if it is okay do baby fillings which is what I would do and maybe have it happen again. It would be devestating. But I also know I am rushing too much to do something when in my heart I feel that I should wait it out just in case. I don't want another surgery. I want to see if this will work first. Thank you for your response.
Hi there,
My band slipped because we left some fluid in my band and with the stress of delivering it slipped. I was terrified however we took out all the fluid for like 3 months to let the band rest and it popped back into place. All has been well ever since and that was 2 years ago. I started back with a small fill and then progressively got back to the same level I was at prior to the slip and have had no issues. However my band never had much in it compared to others out there. I have a 10cc band and the most I ever had in my band life was 4.5 cc my comfortzone is between 3 and 3.5 cc.
If I were you I would wait it out for the 3 months and see before electing any corrective surgery. Also I want to let you know that during the 3 months I was so scared about gaining weight that I watched everything I ate like a hawk and did not gain any weight. It really has to be do to my mind set since I thought You have come so far with your weight loss you dont want to blow it all now.
Best of luck,
Broom
