For those who are upset over negativity...

I found an old thread from the time when I had my surgery....it demonstrates that we who are having problems were as optimistic as you....do a little research into our posts, and you will see that we are more like you than we are different.

Stephanie, we all start out optimistic and, as you say, for some the optimism proves ill founded. So we need to know possible dangers.

Bur for many, the optimism is justified.

Sharing experience is not being negative. What is negative is the implication that failure is inevitable. Some people who have  had issues are able to share them without terrifying.

Negativity is telling people that the band WILL let them down. Telling people with very minor issues to look into revision.

I agree with Kate I dont think anybody here has a problem with people sharing what could happen or what has happened to them so the ones that dont have problems can see the signs or even feel the signs of something might be wrong.  To me that is not negative.

what is negative and people are getting so upset about and refuse to post on this site anymore is being told you are one of the lucky ones, wait till your band fails you , you need a revision over a minor complication  , or telling a newbie that just got out surgery with the band that she  / he is probably looking at another surgery in 2 yrs . Why in the hell would anybody say that they are not God they dont know the future of that person  ,  or even worse wishing harmful things to a person with the band and hope it fails them .   That has been said quite a few times on here . I was so disgusted that one time when I read something like that and I cant believe another human being would wish that on anybody if that is not negative then we have a huge difference of opinion on negativity .

That is what is negative Stephanie not people telling their stories there is HUGE difference IMO.

That is why I dont post on this site anymore like I use to and share my experiences not because of the stories people tell its how they are told, and the other stuff I mentioned above .  I believe quite a few vets have all mentioned the same things I did above as to why they dont post no more .

Till the things that I said above stop then people are not going to post especially the vets.

I too agree with Kate and Steelerfan.  It's not negative to share your experience but it's very negative to be told I am one of the lucky ones, that my band WILL fail eventually, etc. i will have my 2 year anniversary next month and I am doing great.

This is an example of one persons response to everyone who posts, regardless of their situation. Most of us who are having problems are merely communicating what those issue are so others can be aware.  I have never told someone they should revise or that their band WILL fail eventually...not my place to do that.

I, for one,  know that you are absolutely, never have been, one of those that predict disaster as a sure thing. You are informed, polite, kind, and nearly a boy scout! Seriously, I appreciate you.

Stephanie, I don't imagine that steelerfan was referring to you. It is just a small number of posters who do this, but they are very vocal!

You know I don't know how many times I've hear on here: "oh we don't care about ppl sharing what happened to them, it's the WAY that they do it". Well that's B.S.! I have been criticized over and onver on here b/c of "the way that I say it". Well first of all............I am entitled to say it any way I wish. Remember..........PUBLIC FORUM? And second of all................that was never even true! I used to hear about how "nicely" Nicci expressed her band expereinces, but lately I hear ppl on OH complaining about HER! You will have a hard time finding anyone nicer than Nicci..........yet she has also been trashed for telling her experience of the lapband that almost killed her!

~what is negative and people are getting so upset about and refuse to post on this site anymore~

No ppl are not leaving OH b/c we tell of our negative band expereince, believe me, there are far MORE that leave OH b/c they have been criticized for causing their own band issues, or just got NO support when they had band issues.

~ being told you are one of the lucky ones, wait till your band fails you , you need a revision over a minor complication  , or telling a newbie that just got out surgery with the band that she  / he is probably looking at another surgery in 2 yrs . One of the lucky ones? Well if you look at the band stats those that are successful are. It is what it is! Wait till your band fails you? Yes. That is a response I have given some of the RUDE know it all cheerleaders that were attacking me. I can give as good as I get. Why is it WRONG for someone to be rude to ME.........but when I return the favor everyone wants to trash me over it??? IT WORKS BOTH WAYS! Need a revision over a "minor" complication? Define minor? Why are YOU the one that gets to determin when they should be allowed to get a revision? Looking for another surgery in 2 years? Well just look on here! You see ppl posting all the time that have to have 2nd and even 3rd surgeries!

~even worse wishing harmful things to a person with the band and hope it fails them~

Now you know damn well that you have never seen me do that!

~Till the things that I said above stop then people are not going to post especially the vets.~

Not true again. Many ppl have left b/c of facebook, and many vets still post on OH, they just hide on their band grad group. Now as far as ppl leaving the lapband forum............WHY IS IT THAT YOU ARE NOT THE LEAST BIT CONCERNED ABOUT THOSE WITH BAND ISSUES THAT LEFT B/C THEY COULDN'T GET SUPPORT ON HERE?!?!?!

Ok this is what I mean...........This is B.S. This is a PUBLIC FORUM. YOU don't have the right to tell ppl how they can and can't post and who is priveledged evough to even be a member here. You forget that this forum is for ALL of us!  We don't have to all agree. You will NEVER find a forum where everyone agrees with you. So why do you want to attack those of us with different expereince and act like we don't deserve to post on YOUR forum??? Post like yours are the type that cause ppl to attack back. And then who get's blamed? ME!
