Impossible
I was so excited to realize my insurance would pay for revision. Lapband over bypass. I went in for counseling and will see nutritionist on a regular basis. My ins. states with 3 months of this I can have revision. I am at the BMI of 35.9 which is borderline. If I loose any weight or gain any weight from the first visit date I will be denied. I found out this week that even though my ins. only states I have to do this 3 onths. The hospitals policy is 6 months. When did the hospital have a right to dictate what I can do when my ins. will pay after 3 months. So now I have to maintain exactly this same weight for 6 months. I know you women will understand that women flucuate in weight due to water gain etc. Now I know I will not be getting the lap band and am truly upset. I am trying to maintain the current weight by weighing daily, I just don't know if I can. I have many health issues. Hip replacement. Other hip is hurting and need a knee replacement and plus my BP is going up again. I think the main complaint here is the hospital sticking their nose in my business. I have called other dr.s and they all say go back to original dr. My dr. is willing to do it if ins. pays but he doesen't know the hospital policy and I spent 2 hours last week with the nurse and a woman who asked questions about my mental status which I passed both. We went over my ins and no one told me it was six months. No one there is on the same page. Any suggestions. the nutritionist said one patient didn't get the surgery because she gained 1 lb and 1/2. I thought that is why we get the revision because we can't do it alone. I am totally upset. Thanks.
Not only that I had the flu, a horrible flu the week before so yes I lost weight. I did'nt eat for a week just drank liquids. I thought that was why we were eligible for revision because we can't get the weight off. Need for a smaller pouch. Oh well I feel there is no need for me to go to months counseling and let ins. pay for it when the cards are stacked against me. Thanks for the reply.
I know it doesn't seem like it to you now, but it's is more than likely a blessing in disguise! Please take the additional time to RESEARCH the lap-band! Read all about the complications. Question long term bandsters (over 5 years out)...........if you can even find any.

My ins. states 3 months it is the hospital that has a policy of 6 months. I wish someone could enlighten me on how it is the hospital's business to over ride my ins. Maybe this is God's way of telling me not to do it. I can't possibly stay at exact weight for 6 months. No way! Within a few pounds yes.
