Medicare is federal. Medicaid is state.

So, your surgeon might want to check how the heck the state is mandating Medicare coverage when feds trump state on this one.

I'm over 3 years out at this point.

here's the cliffnotes version of my "story"

Had 115lbs to lose to get to goal, dropped 115lbs in 6.5 months with the sleeve.
Dropped another 25ish pounds over another 4 months(10ish months post-VSG) getting into maintenance.
Was cleared to try to get pregnant at 8 months post-op
We tried for 1 year unsuccessfully
Conceived Tatum  February 2011, uncomplicated pregnancy, gained 35lbs, delivered via a repeat csection on 30 October 2011
Lost 25 of the 35lbs after delivery within the first 4-5 weeks, allowed the holidays to slip by, and in late January went back to my normal maintenance eating (which is NOT dieting at all, I eat and live in moderation), and could not get the scale to drop those last 10 pounds.
February 15th, I popped positive on another pregnancy test, and Nugget is due on 17 October. I'm 6.5 months pregnant with an 8.5 month old daughter, and a 14 yr old son.

As for life with the sleeve, it is effortless to be honest. I did low carb/high protein during my losing because I wanted to get to goal, knew my body was carb sensitive, and I did not want to waste my time justifying bad habits just because I couldn't eat big portions. I have zero food restrictions or medication restriction. I enjoy a variety of foods and live a very normal life. No one realizes that I had WLS because I pretty much eat like all of my naturally skinny girlfriends. I never puke, burp excessively, I have had zero vitamin issues, and my life is, well normal. I maintained my weight for a solid year until pregnancy. I've been pregnant for 16.5 of the last 18 months.

I lost 23-25lbs with the band the first 3 months, gained back 16ish of those pounds waiting for my revision.

Heaviest weight: 270lbs (band surgery day) size 22/24W
Revision weight 263lbs
Goal was 150lbs
Maintenance weight was 125-130lbs (size 2)

I'm 5'2" and medically I'm considered "large framed".

Life is pretty phenomenal with the sleeve. I do not dump, never have. I do continue to take Nexium to ward off any reflux BUT mainly I take it because overproduction of acid causes hunger. I have not ever had physical hunger post-op EXCEPT during my third trimester of my last pregnancy.

If you have specific questions, feel free to shoot me a message. I'm beyond open regarding my band to sleeve revision, life post-op, etc.

Medicare is national BUT its divided into regions and each region is handed off to a regional contractor. CMS, which is the government agency that runs Medicare and Medicaid, as decided to leave it up to the regional contractors... Unfortunately.
