although Medicare claims it will now cover the sleeve as a viable WLS option it is not up to each individual state as to whether they will pay for it or not.  So let the waiting games continue....just sharing what my surgeon's office shared.
I've been on prednisone and chemo for over 7.5 years.  Gained over 160 pounds due to pred. Highest wt. 410. Surgery wt. 365. Current wt. 299

I find that rather odd since Medicare  is national, but then again........a lot of what the government does makes no sense. :-(

Tricare DOES cover it at military treatment facilities. Tricare has two budget buckets. One for MTFs, one for civilian care.

Tricare WILL follow suit with VSG coverage just like they did with the band several years ago when medicare finally picked up the band. Hopefully, we will find out if VSG will be covered out of the "civilian" budget by the fiscal year of 1 October 2012.

I know they did here in 2009!  The very first ones approved at our site were medicare.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I might be mistaken, but it's Medicaid that is state run.  Medicare is federal.  I have Medicare and a med-advantage plan that covers whatever Medicare covers.

6-7-13 band removed. No revision. Facebook  Failed Lapbands and Realize Bands group and WLS-Support for Regain and Revision Group
