If you hadn't made fun of people with band issues and their revisions, you wouldn't be on moderation.  I know you weren't trying to make fun, but people don't think it is funny at all.
Always think before you say things.  Sorry you had to be put on moderation.

Well, was I making fun or not? Since you can't seem to make up your mind - NO, I WASN'T!

I was, however, making fun of people who believe that the resolution to EVERY band issue is a revision. Suggesting that it IS is not funny at all!

I guess I can say it until I am blue in the face and some people just will not get it: 99 percent of band problems can be resolved with remedies OTHER than surgery: mindful eating, chewing carefully, paying attention to "stop" signals from our bodies, not staying over (or under) filled,  not eating too fast, not eating too late at night. But for people to just stampede into every post and tell some person who's already scared crapless that they need revision surgery WHEN THEY PROBABLY DON'T isn't funny, and it isn't helpful. THOSE people need to be told "think before you say things." I expect to see you responding with just those words on THEIR posts as well.

It's there... the damage... whether we're compliant or not. Just the band BEING there causes damage in a lot of people.

The tips you've given are fine and dandy for the lucky person whose body tolerates the band being there... but for most everyone else, they don't work.  There are many people on this board, right this minute, who have done everything right... and still have pain and problems. They can't be "mindful" of their eating when eating causes tremendous pain. 99% of problems cannot be resolved by utilizing the tips you've provided. I'm sure you know this. We just don't have that much control over our internal anatomy. You can't really believe that 99% of problems can be resolved that easily, right? (You got 99 problems but a ***** ain't one?)

Most of us are simply trying to help others avoid this same fate. I don't think anyone is trying to scare anyone "crapless," personally. At some point, however people might NEED to be scared "crapless" in order to break free from the, "I must have done something wrong" mode of thinking.

not that bette needs someone to defend her, but I think she's trying to say that the answer to band problems isn't always yet another WLS.  Sometimes it's the suggestions she listed, other times it's a total unfil, while other times it's time to find a NEW SURGEON to help you.  I know I'm questioning my surgeon lately.

I don't know if Bette's post was hurtful as I'm not one that recommends another surgery when someone is having a hard time.

I've been on prednisone and chemo for over 7.5 years.  Gained over 160 pounds due to pred. Highest wt. 410. Surgery wt. 365. Current wt. 299

Guernica -

What I was trying to say in the post in question- for those who don't get the message - is that MOST TIMES a band problem can be resolved with either minor adjustments (unfills) or being more cognizent of your own behaviors (chewing more carefully, for example.) YOU seem to get it.

In no way was I saying that revision surgery is NEVER the answer. But the decision about whether it IS or NOT needs to be investigated and evaluated by the person and his/her SURGEON, not a bunch of people on a website who have had bad experiences. There are some here - and people need to stop denying it! - *****spond to every single post from someone having even the most minor of peroblems that they need more surgery. If you've just HAD surgeryl, the mere mention of having to have MORE only serves to freak you out, NOT to act as "support."

And with that, I am done defending myself and my post. I stand by it, and I stand by my opinion.

Anyone who doesn't like me my words or my opinion can just block me. Which I guess I am going to have to do more of.

I don't suggest other surgeries when someone is having band complications, either. I didn't have a revision myself. I had the opportunity and chose not to proceed. I couldn't stand the thought of going through that hell again.

And bette's blocked me, so it's a moot point as far as "what she meant" by anything.

I'm to a point, though, where I couldn't care less what anyone wants to do anymore. They can stick their ass in a blender and sing, "Glory Hallelujah" at this point.

All the information is out there. If a person is too lazy to research it thoroughly, well, they gets what they gets, is all I can say!

It's probably good to question your surgeon sometimes. You have to advocate for yourself because no one else is gonna do it, that's for sure. Wish you the best, Guernica.

I agree that those who are having issues shouldn't be told right off to "go get a revision".  That's not the way to approach it, because suggesting surgery is a big deal, carries risks and may not be necessary.  Hang in there Bette...

They should be told to get a revision or they shouldn't? You've written that they "should" be told right off to get a revision. I assume it's a typo.

I agree... revision is NOT always the answer. I didn't have one. I was too traumatized by the band experience to even risk going through anything like it again. I'd rather be fat and take my chances.  Some people really do need to be concerned about the damage the band is causing, though. It scares me to see how desperate people are to not be fat again. (I was one of those...I'm sad to admit it, but it's true. Now I realize that having the band was much worse than being fat.)
