you can buy the veggie straws at walmart. But they are not by the chips, they are by the rice cakes and I think those are in the cereal aisle :)
Good luck! The time right after surgery is tricky. you are learning a new way to deal with food. Keep educating yourself everychance you get !

The chicken in the sammie is pretty juicy and there is a sauce on it as well. I could eat about 1/4 to 1/3 of it.

For the most part, the only chicken I was able to get down was chicken MC Nuggets, but I was only able to eat two or three of them in about 30 minutes. Yes it was more calories, but it was one of the only chickens I could get down and it was protein ( or so I assumed ) I was careful with what I ate and I was still able to lose weight while eating that deep fried chickeny goodness.

Chicken breasts had to be doused in buckets of ranch dressing and I was only able to eat an ounce of it ( I bought ranch by the quart from my favorite BBQ restaurant ). Fillet Mignon was another meat I could get down, but again only about an ounce of it.

There is the Mexican grocery store near my house, that also serves hot foods. I would go there and purchase a pint of freshly cooked carnita's in the juices they were cooked in. They were already chopped up and I would ask the guy to chop them up finer, I also asked him to add a lot more of the juices. I would then by some Ranchero cheese ( 6 g's of protein in one ounce ) and put that on top of the carnitas. I would eat about one - two ounces of that.

I also bought refried beans from my favorite Mexican restaurant and put some Ranchero cheese on those for added protein.

Rotisserie chicken is pretty soft and juicy too. ( don't forget the ranch )

did you see my post yesterday about a new discovery...it is 100% raw chicken breast pattie, 4 oz chopped and shaped into a burger.  Had one yesterday, perfect consistency did not get stuck!
