Chest discomfort

Omg, I just had band surgery on Monday. Some days I am noticing that I am fine and others I feel a discomfort in my chest. It's like a pressure/pain gasy type of feeling. I have gas x chewables and pepsid but nothing is working. What is going on? Am I drinking my liquids too fast or eating pudding too fast? I need some help. I am still in a little pain but what could this be?

Walk as much as possible, ebs1078.
It is most likely the CO2 gas used during surgery that is irritating your diaphragm (the Vagus nerves run through it.)  If this discomfort doesn't pass in a week or so, alert your surgeon. If it doesn't go away, you'll definitely want to address this problem. But, so soon after surgery it's very normal to have the referred pain.

A heating pad under your left rib cage might help. Just make sure it doesn't irritate your incisions.

And, yes, it might be from drinking and eating too quickly. Cold things seem to aggravate this, too. Maybe drink water that is a little bit warmer and see if it helps.

Thank you so much. I realized from my first day home that I couldn't tolerate cold too well. I will definitely have to stop letting the pain get in the way of me walking more. I appreciate your help.

For some reason, the cold stuff really does cause some discomfort for a lot of people so soon out of surgery.

Hope you feel better soon and are pain free. Take care.

I just drank too hot coffee. I should take my own advice about being careful of the temperatures of things!
