Do you know, the biggest shock I had when visiting the US was the size of the chipmunks. They are much bigger in cartoons!!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Here's a picture of my backyard.

From left is a baby groundhog, a chipmunk, a Blue Jay and a squirrel.  The chipmunks range from super tiny to a little on the hefty side! This one's right in the middle.

I was totally thrown! Do't  know what I expected but in New England they were pretty small! But very cute!

And so is that groundhog!

Hijack! KATE-I wouldn't know a chipmuck from a monkey's butt, but I'd like to share the "un-official" animal of my state: Rarely are they seen alive-they are usually "road kill"..all squashed..DANG..I think this pic is bigger than an actual armadillo..sorry !

Gina,Looks armour plated. Tried to send you a pic of a badger! Very British, fairly common but rarely seen as shy. But like yours, frequently seen flat by the road side!

But my ipad refuses to let me!

do you not have them over there?  they are smaller than squirrels.

I used to live in Minnesota (lot of both) and once lived in a house with a student from Japan. She was astonished that squirrels were just running around loose. are they wild? she said.  yes!

Yep, lots of squirrels here but no chipmunks. But we have a squirrel problem! The native Brit squiirrel is gorgeous, dark red and a very fluffy tail. The grey squirrel was brought from America a century or so ago and being larger, eating same food and being more aggressive is pushing the red squirrel out. They only live in a few limited  areas now..  Can't post a pic from my ipad.
